Not really. You would need a HDTV + HDMI Cable for the full quality of Blu-Ray movies.

The sound of BD is much better, and of course youll see less artifacts, there is also a chance the PS3 scales the video down as well which would provide a minimal quality increase as well.

Blu-Ray has the same DD5.1 audio that DVD's offer. What Blu-Ray DOES have are other audio tracks that are uncompressed and can be played with the proper receiver.

If you're playing in SD then you won't notice any difference at all. Blu-ray discs are designed specifically for HD so without an HD receiver it's pointless to get them.

cmon think about it. if blurays looked good on sdtv's than why get a hdtv? ofcourse it wont look any different from a dvd, because sdtvs dont have the resolution.
