Can't see that happening since animation doesn't profit from HD. And for packing more episodes on one disc, they could easily do that with DVD already and that's why I'm not buying those. I mean, they pack like 4-6 20 minutes episodes on a DVD, that's 80-120 minutes. A movie has about the same size and there's making of's and what not. You probably could fit at least half a series on a DVD9 without any troubles.BenderUnit22the more you squeese onto a DVD, the more the resolution suffers. that's the reasong more shows don't do it. Hell, anybody that's ever tried / done video editing will tell you that. However, [movie industries] do make more money off of us from selling us 2 - 4 episodes per disk. Luckily, we all know that when the boot-leggers finally crack the Blu-ray / HD-DVD formats, we (unscrupulous individuals) will increase our video collections by a vast amount. :D
Only anime I know of

Several titles in Japan have already come out on BD but are few and far between. The major hurdle to anime on BD in the US is the fact that in comparison to major Hollywood studios, anime distributors are relatively low volume and can't afford to take sides in an ongoing and expensive format war with a limited installed base at present. DVD was adopted early by anime because it afforded a simpler distribution system compared to selling two different VHS versions with dubs and subtitles. At present BD doesn't offer a similar advantage over DVD so adoption will be much slower.
As another poster pointed out, anime will benefit from BD. Movies and higher-budget OAVs will have the quality to make use of it while lower quality series will benefit from the reduced compression as well. It'll be a long time before we see it happening though.
I can't wait for it myself - I'd love to see shows like Hayao Miyazaki's works, Appleseed, Macross Plus, Place Promised, Karas, and so on on Blu-ray.
well anime isn't worth buying for at the moment because of a lot of dling going on. Also, it's cartoons and most of them are series, rarely any anime movies so the price to put them on blu-ray is pretty pricy and on top of that, the quality isn't that much noticeable cuz its a cartoon. junk56
If you have doubts about whether anime has enough PQ to warrant HD then I'd suggest you watch examples like Appleseed, Karas, or The Place Promised In Our Early Days because they sure as hell aren't "cartoons".

Yeah, can't agree more. Foster's, Camp Lazlo, and Spongebob are cartoons - not that there's anything wrong with that but lumping all anime into the same category just because they're animated is an annoying generalization. There's far more depth in one of Miyazaki's films than in a handful of most Hollywood movies.
