Yeah consumers are always going to want the latest and best technology. That's what Blu Ray is.
I think the word on it is barely starting to get out. My parents are these kind of consumers, onnly RECENTLYheard about blu ray, they were about to by an $800 player then I told them not to because my ps3 plays them. Then they went out and bought a couple movies :o
thats good. though i think without the ps3 it would be a whole different story.Hotwad
Yea... Blu-Ray would be gone the way of Betamax without the PS3.
[QUOTE="jzen_"]has this been posted in SW? i couldnt find a thread related to this topic in that forum. if not, you'd think it be wise to? =Pmmirza23it's gonna get locked in system wars, cause the board isn't called "format wars" aww, ya -didn't think about that

good strategy on sony's part then.
I suppose, but then we get into this debate:
Where would Sony be if they removed Blu Ray playing, and had a DVD drive. A cheaper console is where. Then we would have a much different outcome than now. To be honest, Blu-Ray hasn't proven itself as a video game format just yet, just look at what is crammed into Mass Effect for instance on a DVD, then we get a 5 hour game in Heavenly Sword?
It's too bad the original marketing strategy for the PS3 was "Blu-Ray player first, video game console second". I'm glad it's changed back to focusing on games again.

there is ALOTmore money to be made with blu ray format than a video game console.

Mass Effect is short for an RPG. You thnk FFXII woould be possible on a DVD9? MGS won't be either. Uncharted either. We are getting there... dont worry
