I might have come from the AVS forums, they keep track of that stuff.Yeah, but the Fifth Element is a great movie nonetheless
I always cringe when people on this forum say what they first bought for Blu-ray because it always seems to be Fifth Element and House of Flying Daggers, and you see where those are on this list.

I have heard a lot of people saying that HD-DVD is the better format right now. I may buy the add-on HD drive for my 360 today so I will let ya know, But most users i've talked to with a PS3 and Hd-Dvd player have said HD-Dvd > Blu-Ray in picture quality and menus/extras. Disappoints me since I was looking forward to blu ray and not HD-dvd, now I may be going to HD-Dvd and the PS3 extra cost for the blu ray is about worthless until they start using up the big storage space in games.GameCrazed85What I suggest you do is compare the best blu-ray to the best of hd dvd and let me know if you can tell the difference. Which I doubt. Many of the stories you've heard was because of the problems that blu-ray had before the PS3 came out. The Samsung player had a lot of problems compared to the Toshbia unit. Today that's changed and blu-ray has caught up. All you have to do is go to high-def digest and look at the ratings. Heck, even some MPEG2 movies are rating better picture quality than some VC1 movies. Which blows a hole in the "vc1 is best" argument. There are so many variables: film type, style, codec used, transfer quality, decoder power, and software quality.

Plus, why would you wanna waste your money when only Universal support HD-DVD exclusively. With Blu-ray you have Disney, Miramax, Pixar, Fox, Sony, MGM, LionsGate, Touchstone, Warner, Paramount
Stargate is tier 2???
No way man..i have that movie and it looks brutal!! tier 4 at the very least
BTW.. corpse bride does look amazing.
Just because someone wrote about it on the net , even if its from " the horses mouth " you can never trust it. not 100% anyways
I have an HD-DVD player and a PS3. I can tell you first hand that when it comes to picture Quality HD-DVD is way better. BLU-RAY just made me scratch my head and wounder why i was looking at a grainy picture that in some cases reminded me of regular DVDs.. Stargate for example..wich BTW was given a tier 2.That movie Looked terrable on Blu-Ray. Go to Scene 10 of that movie and you'll see what i mean. Keep in mind that all the forums are posting it at tier 2 not just this one.
I can compare HD-DVD's worst movie to Blu-Rays best, (Excludeing any digitaly done movies..Happy Feet ..Corpse Bride,There the only two that i'd say are equal in quality)Â
You dout that theres a difference then go out and buy an HD-DVD player and find out for yourself..I have, and im telling you that HD-DVD is far better in picture Quality.
If you have a PS3 and are looking for good quality picture. i'd say go with Casino Royal. Its the only movie that has come close to what HD-DVD Quality is.
My setup KDL-40v2500 sony flat panel 1080 P with PS3 / HDMI H400 Version 1.20a
BTW..King Kong was one of HD-DVD's firs launch titles for the add on, and nothing on Blu-Ray has yet to compare to its quality.
bought silent hill last night and it did not look that great, I have hdmi cables hooked up and a 1080p tv, but still alittle fuzzz, I cant figure out what my tv is projecting in.TJSAGE
That's because Silent Hill was filmed that way. The picture was always a bit grainy as far as I remember (watched it in the cinema), it was never perfectly 'clean'.
Nice list. I still have only 1 and I seen Corpse Bride a couple of times already. Still searching for 1. I might consider 1 or 2 of the others though.

Nah, King Kong is still the best looking non-animated movie on either format.Â
