well if you think BL2 is an RPG then youll think FC is a RPG. IN FC3 you collect loot to increase a bunch of passive abilities like the amount of money, ammo and weaposn you can hold plus much more. Also, their are three branching skill trees you invest perks into when you level up. Anyhow, i own both, i like them both but i'm playing FC3 now since its new. However, if you like to play co-op then BL3 is better at that. If you like to rol around solo then youll have a lot of fun with FC3 cause the stealth is great in the game. However, i think youll find that FC3 gets a bit repetitive outside the MQ. IMO BL2 will have more replay value if your into getting the best loot. After i beat the singal player on FC3 i;ll RETURN IT and never play it again. It multilayer is weak.

If you consider BL2 a RPG, then FC3 is a RPG. Both are fun, but I think FC3 has the edge. Everything about FC3 is great except the co-op. Its pretty poor. But I plan on keeping FC3 in my game library forever.

I like FC3 better but you can't go wrong with either.

I only played a little of both, but I would personally go with Far Cry 3. It was very immersive and large, though Borderlands 2 is better for co-op no doubt.

They're both amazing, so you can't go wrong with either. If I had to pick one, I'd go with Borderlands 2 because I am a huge Borderlands fan. If you want a darker story, Far Cry 3 is better, while Borderlands 2 is good for being funny. Both of them (in my opinion) have the best villians of the year and both have excelent writing.

I'd get Borderlands 2, it's funny, has one of the best video game villains and has more RPG elements (see damage from shots, colored random loot, character classes, bosses + raid bosses). Far Cry 3 looks choppy on consoles due to frame rate issues, it's pretty bad and barely ever see anyone mention it, it reminds me of what Two Worlds (the first one) looked like lol.

I have both and like what everybody else said, they are both amazing. But I like Borderlands 2 a little bit more even though I love Far Cry 3 as well. I don't know, just put on a blindfold and choose one since you can't go wrong with either or you could take the Two-Face route and do a coin flip.

Get Far Cry 3, then get the BL2 GOTY edition that'll come out in a year or so.

Too hard to choose. I got both and you should do the same. You won't regret it.

If you have to buy one right now - or, rather, if I were going to buy one right now - I'd go with Far Cry 3. I really loved the original Borderlands...until the final boss and the second playthrough. I could've forgiven the lame, painfully easy final boss, but the second playthrough really started to grind me down. It was seriously disappointing that there wasn't any real reason to play the other characters/classes, because anyone could use any gun and the individual special abilities really weren't all that special. The skills didn't really make that much of an impact. And while Gearbox promoted that whole bazillion guns thing, you quickly realize that 99.9% of them are pure crap. The game had good intentions, turning Diablo II into an FPS, but they really dropped the ball on nailing down some fundamentals. Namely: truly unique classes with fairly unique styles of play, and a better variety of loot (like those rare/unique items that had lower level requirements, that maybe weren't great for the character you found them with but they'd be ideal starter weapons to pass along to a new character). So, after two playthoughs, a lot of farming (and still not finding much of anything worth having), a Platinum trophy, and starting a second character...yeah, I think I'm done with Borderlands. And while I'll probably feel compelled to pick up Borderlands 2 when the Game of the Year Edition with all the DLC included comes out, I'm not all that eager to jump back into that world knowing it'll probably be more of the same. Far Cry 3 is more appealing to me right now because it's sorta scratches my itch for something a little new with more variety. And it seems like it's a bit of a hybrid. There's no Borderlands-style loot system, but there is an RPG-esque leveling system/skill tree. There's the huge open-world aspect, with vehicles, that seems to have a bit of a Just Cause 2 vibe about it. And there's hunting and harvesting to craft new items and upgrades, bringing in some of what I think I enjoy most about Skyrim: wandering the open countryside, catching sight of an animal, then slowly stalking it and getting in close to bring it down with a single arrow, or only wounding it and having to madly chase after it, firing on the fly and getting that little jolt of triumph when you nail it. So, yeah, I'd definitely go with Far Cry 3. Though, if at all possible, I'd suggest getting it on PC instead of console.

far cry 3. Never cared for border lands. Just seemed to much a gimmick for me. And not really much else.

Sure, you can ignore my comment if you don't mind playing a game that has lessthan 30 frames per second at all times.

Far Cry 3 is like an rpg from a first person perspective. I'm a big fan of RPG and really dig this game.

I found Far Cry 3's Storyline to be very good in Theory but once the game came out I find it is extremely rushed and almost feels like your being pulled too quickly through it. Its also SLightly reminiscent of SKyrims storyline just faster.. Its True, Borderlands 2 has great writing, You will laugh a lot. Story however? No, it has an awful storyline, But really Borderlands has neevr been about that. ITs all about the look and feel of the game as well as the gameplay. Their trailer does not try to Pull you into the story, It just tells you why your are playing it A Bazillion guns and lots of dubstep. Either way both games are good for sure, BUt for lasting appeal they will just collect dust eventually. Borderlands 2 gets a bit more of the edge due to being a RARE game you can play together with a friend on ONE tv. There is no right or wrong with your choice

You'll love borderlands 2 right up until the point (about 30 hours in) where you have nothing else to do but grind gear from bosses that have a .00000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance to drop anything you want to use.

The drop rates are inexplicably bad. Like bad to the point where it soured the entire game for me. Also, solo was so poorly balanced that you had to use a near exploitingly overpowering shield ( to the point where they nerfed it ) just to make the game roughly how it should have been from the get go.

I much prefered FC3 overall but liked both games.

I'm glad whoever started this thread did so. I just finished Far Cry 3 and was looking for another game similar to it. So far, Borderlands 2 is pretty fun. It has funny dialogues. I'll see how it compares to FC3 though.
