So my friend gave me Borderlands to download on PS3. I never played it, but hear some bad and good reviews from friends. What should I be looking forward to in it? From the videos i've seen, the art style looks pretty inivative.

Key things I'd like to know :

-Best character to use? I was going to go with the Mord guy

-How long is the game without the DLC?

-How does the online work?

Depends on your style, but yeah I like the hunter dude the most. He's got some sweet talent tree.

The game took me around 12 hours to finish but I did all the quests I believe.

Dunno about the online since I haven't tried it, but I think there are 2 ways to play online. Either start a normal game then invite your friend, or just start a multi-player game.

Beware though, the game has loads and loads of monsters. You can't walk for more than a minute without getting attacked by a wave of monsters, and each wave has at least 20. In one of the DLC's it got simply unbearable for me and I haven't played it since then.

1) it depends on your playstyle. each character has some pretty cool personal moves. my favorite was brick. brick's berserker mode puts him in a near unstoppable mode where you regain health, have huge damaging punches, and moves faster. the others have different signature skills. mordicai is a very good character as well.

2) it's length is pretty decent. it will probably take around 30-50 hrs depending on how many side missions you want to do. it might take more hrs than that even, not sure how you play.

3) online is for co-op with friends going through the game together. or if you want to challenge your friends you guys can start a fight then go to a arena and have a free for all. i think it supports 4 people online.

overall its a great game. its a rpg, first person shooter. if you like both types of games then you will love this game. once you beat the game, you can restart the game with the same character with all your guns, abilities, and level. but on the secend playthrough, it will be a lot tougher.

It's a pretty fun game and if you've played Diablo it sort of the same. You get to level up and you constantly find better weapons and the story is pretty good too. I have gotten 100% of the game completed and it probably took atleast 40hrs+ though part of it was getting a few trophies for one of the DLC's. The game also has split screen co op so you can play 2 player local if you have a friend or family that could play.

it's tons of fun, not a very expanded story, but there's progression anyway as you discover new zones, the skill trees let you develop each character in different ways, the weapons you find can be incredible, the NPCs are usually funny

I did the game with Roland, the soldier, good with combat rifles and shotguns, has a turret that not only damages the enemies and gets their attention, but also regenerates shield and health and produces ammo and grenades

Its a good game alone and great as coop. The game is about finding loot. There are a LOT of guns. You can also make your own guns on your PC and transfer them to the PS3. People used to make crazy guns which made the game way too easy, but they patched it and now can only make guns within the realms of what the randomizer could make. the hunter is the best character imo, followed by the Girl.

Once you finish the main game, the island of dr ned is hilarious and fun.

Its good, I got it on sale the other day,its a bit slow to start off but once you get going there is alot to do. Only thing I would say is try not to announce the fact you are game sharing on a public forum. You never know who is reading. For your sake I hope your PSN name isnt your username on this site lol. That would be bad .

Well if your playing alone, its kinda boring. But the more people you add the more fun it gets.

1.) If you want "real action" and punching people in the face go play with Brick (the mascular guy) but if you want some basics shootings go with the Soldier 2.) I finished the game 20-35 hrs 3.) Never tried online. But I play multiplayer (slip screen) with friends and its fun.

The first time I played was mostly on my own and I had fun but it is a lot more fun with friends.I got this at launch and I still have friends come over and play split screen.

I've played with all the characters and my favorite would have to be Lilith. She's got great perks. The Soldier was also a lot of fun: his turret is probably the most affective special "ability."

It's a long game without the DLC; I don't know how that guy above did it in 12 hours...must be a savant. With the DLC it's about twice as long. I don't usually get dlc but this game really has the best values for it: General Knoxx and Claptrap Revolution are both very big additions.

The online is pretty solid: you can invite people (just friends or open) into your game or join someone elses; you'll get a list of players, with what missiion they're on, what dlc they have, and how many other players are there.

And unlike most multiplatform games, it runs really well on the ps3.

Hahaha, I actually think it took me longer now that I'm reading other comments. I don't remember exactly since I played on segmented phases, but 12 hours made sense to me at the time I was writing that post. Could be 20 for all I know :P

Borderlands GOTY edition is my all time favorite game and one of my best game purchases ever.

Roland was my first playthrough and Mordecai was my second, Lilith and Brick were okay but not my favorites.

Definately able to pour hours into this game if you're a perfectionist, there's so much to do.

And don't listen to others, game isn't boring by yourself, just have to deal with being independent and a solo artist, and all the gear you could want
