i have honestly never touched the bottom of my ps3 when i have been using it. I would imagine it would get quite hot. Maybe you are being a little paranoid?

It's normal.
just make sure you cool it down,
or dont play to long.
it's like when a lap top gets hot.
or the back of your computer gets hot,

it's not GOOD,
but it's not like you can do anything.

The only part that gets hot is the bottom.

I wouldnt worry if I were you. It cleary states in the manual that the product may become hot under general use.... Unless it's extremely hot (untouchable) then it isnt a problem.

Do you think that as long as the lights don't blink and the system shut down it is normal?

Worrying about a $300 electronic getting very hot after an hour is not paranoia.

If you play too long it will over heat and then just shut off. Nothing bad will really happen other than maybe losing what ever you were doing.

Mine only turned off once, I never really touch it, but the only time mine really gets hot is when I play Fallout 3 for 6 hours at a time. When this happens, sometimes it freezes up, but it's no big deal.

If open the thing and clean the fan will GameStop still take it for a trade-in if the problem get worse and it doesn't have the warranty sticker?

Mine gets hot, but not unbearably hot. But thats because I leave mine on all day, and turn it off at night.

Usually there isn't a need to worry about the fan. Mine has gotten a little bit louder, but it's not that noticable. If your system shuts down, then there might be a problem. :(

Don't fret. The PS3 warns you if it overheats. I've played my PS3 (80 GB) for 7 hours before, and when I touch it's not that much hotter than it is after one hour. And if you are really worried, still being paranoind, you can get an intercooler. But since it's a fatty, your fan should be enough.

u can control everything from the controller so touch pad isnt needed....but yeah what i do with the PS3 when its lied down i take old CD cases that i dont like anymore and put each of the four corners on those four CDs so it can get some air under there and all....plus have a fan on in the room that you play your PS3...

well that is where the heatsink is so its going to be pretty hot, don't worry about it unless it starts over heating and shutting off.

It really depends where you put it, Ive left my PS3 on for 24 hours before in an open room, touched the back and it was only warm, yet after leaving it in a cabinet for 3-4 hours it began to really heat up. If your really scared you can buy a fan fo cheapwhich slips on just fine :).

Nothing to really worry about. My PS3 has stayed on as long as over two years without a single problem. If it seems to be getting hotter than normal the best thing is have it in a open area and stand it up vertically. I have mine standing vertical on top of my entertainment cabinet and it doesn't get much warmer when it's being used for gaming over just F@H.
