Glad to hear you're enjoying the Vita, godfather. I'm pretty much in the same situation as you described - I'm not playing console games as much these days, and I've really drifted towards preferring handheld game systems over game consoles. I also still play some games on my PC, and I really don't see that going away anytime soon. But to me the handheld is my main game system, because it's more personal than a console that sits in the living room, and it has its own screen and everything right there.
I also share your feelings about buying physical copies of games for the Vita. Even in the face of a fantastic PSN + program. I will buy download-only PSN games digitally, but otherwise I stick to cartridges. I think part of that is I realize how quickly 4, 8, 16 and even 32 GB of memory can fill up. If I could have 120 or more GB of space on the system, then I'd be all for complete digital download on the Vita. But as it stands, I need as much room as I can have. There's also just something about owning a game, and having it there in front of you - it's like you really do own it, then.
I'm hoping this year will be a better one for the Vita. I think it will be, but I'm anxious to see if developers are going to give more attention to the system in 2013. I'm hoping for exciting announcements at the game shows this year, with impressive games that really help to sell the system and show its power to people who are on the fence about getting one. Either way though, I think it has some decent games out now, and I'm happy with it.
