I did not read the review...yet...but I highly doubt "best fps ever." Don't get me wrong, it will be good, but...Half-Life 2...Anyone?

I played and finished Half-Life 2 and then came back to it again when I actually became decent at aiming in FPS's. I still think KZ2 is going to be the best FPS yet overall. The game will have a more profound effect when we actually get to experience the story aspect... not that the graphics and gameplay alone aren't amazing, but having that sense of purpose will really drive it home. Half-Life 2 set some standards, though. It's better than a lot of the FPS's that came out after it.

yea but when the official UK xbox blog previews killzone2 and says it bests even gears of war 2, maybe it is the best fps ever created.

Yea, Half-Life 2 I think I played longer than any game. It is comparable to MGS4 for me. I never played HL2 on PS3 though, only on PC. I just think the battles and level design/character and creature design, are the most profound and enjoyable/interesting of any fps. We are all entitled to our opinions of course. On a side note, I can't wait for Killzone 2. It looks beautiful, and the multiplayer beta was real fun.

Hehe, that's true... some games will stay a favorite, like Final Fantasy Tactics for me; still my favorite of the series. I got the Half-Life bundle for my PC years ago, so I played Half-Life 1 first and beat it, then moved on to 2 for the whole experience. It was very, very enjoyable, although I actually learned to aim playing Counter-Strike Source. I liked the police-state atmosphere of HL2 and the ferocity of the enemies. It was one of those games that feels like being in a movie.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

But to learn how to play an fps with Counter Strike: Source, that is brutal. I'm amazed you ever even considered picking up another FPS. I was addicted to CS:S for about 8 months not too long after HL2 was released...it was pathetic.

Indeed. H1 and H3 are good, great even, but...FPS just doesn't get better than HL1 and HL2.

Lol, it was brutal. But in my ignorance, I didn't yet realize how much better I could become. My goal for the entire evening of playing was to get ten kills total. I couldn't comprehend how the other players did so well. I think I learned more from the multiplayer because human opponents are more challenging than the AI. That's why I learned to quickly aim for the head and to anticipate things. I also made up my own training sessions by starting a private server, arming myself with a deagle and then pitting myself against ten bots wielding knives. I would only allow myself to kill with headshots. Sometimes I would make the bots stationary and then see how fast I could kill them all using headshots. Because of that experience, it opened the world of FPS games to me, whereas before I would have never, ever, ever bought COD4. I used to be addicted to CSS for a while too. The office map was so fun. Coincidentally, "The Office" is now my favorite TV show.

Haha, good stuff. Yea, I was an admin and everything. I had 56k the whole time too, kind of unbelievable. I mean, I was never fantastic at it, but it was highly addictive and I could usually maintain, and occasionally far surpass, a 1:1 kd. To all who read this, CS is top 3 in online shooters.

I think Bob Saget said it in Half Baked best, "I've sucked d*** for Counter Strike. You ever suck d*** for marijuana? I don't think so. NOW THAT'S AN ADDICTION!"

Which is a situation ends rockstar up with over 6 million copies sold in the first week. If the hype continues to accelerate, and if the game does manage to be as good as these early reviews say, sony could rack up with a whole bunch of sales, which is something we fanboys really want for some reason.

Wow--that is an addiction! If someone actually talked about CSS in a movie like that, I would have to own that movie. I remember 56k. Ah, the good days of Phantasy Star Online on my GameCube. If they could make a great next-gen Phantasy Star title, a PS3 exclusive (!) that would be exciting.

Haha, yea, the worst part about my 56k is that I just got cable a month ago, so I've only been console online gaming when I go to college, which of course is very productive in an academic setting. Unfortunately, I never played any Phantasy Star Onlines, my friend had the first one on Dreamcast though.

Yea, that is good to hear. But for me, that review means absolutely nothing. It would be like me making a painting and trying to get people to buy it. If say, Xbox magazine reviewed it like that, that would be saying something (I know that won't happen, but I have to stretch this to paint a picture...how 'bout that...irony)

I hope everyone has read the blogger from the official 360 UK mag. That is actually a way more telling article, just for the fact that an Xbot wrote it, praised, and gave it much respect. The comments for the article are also quite hilarious, in that all these Xbots are groaning that the KZ2 hype and praise machine has finally penetrated an 360 publication. http://blog.360magazine.co.uk/uncategorized/competition-check-killzone-edition/ The sheer consistency of the praise for this game so far is kinda convincing me this is more than just hype and marketing, folks.

Well if the guy has played it, the he has an informed opinion, so its not hype, its what he REALLY thinks...
