Last week, I posted here about the relativity between using a PlayStation Portable at school or an educational institute. Seeing as how some people had a few neat stories and had thoughts on the subject, I'm going to expand the topic to general publicized places.

Anyone have any experiences bringing your PSP outside of the home? Have you ever brought it to the mall and just played it while streaming through store windows? Have you ever bought it to an amusement park and played it courageously as you rode that roller coaster? What about a restaurant, did you ever get food stuck on it? Your friend's house, did he accidentally break it?

I know you guys have something to tell me about that, but that main reason is security. How do you normally plan on bringing it outside so it doesn't get broken—do you bring a protector case, fit it in your pocket, and hide it in your backpack? Tell me about it.

I brought mine to work to play during lunch, which was fun. While I was waiting at the bus stop, I was tempted to play it but didn't want to look like a dork. Just then, someone walked past me playing one.. so I thought it couldn't hurt ;D That's when I discovered that the only thing you can see on a PSP in the sunlight is rainbows on your screen -3-

I just tend to keep my PSP at home, I don't really see the point of using it when out because I'm either with my friends or doing other important things, therefore I don't see the need to bring my PSP out in the public. I've never tried to take it in public places though.

I use mine whenever I'm on the train, which isn't that often nowadays but anyway, one time I was at the train station playing Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition and a rough looking young guy came up and asked if he could have a go, after telling me he'd just come out of prison. I said "no" and he kept trying to persuade me saying things like "I need something to do whilst I wait for the train". (this didn't sway me at all). Then he sat next to me and asked what game I was playing, I said Final Fantasy, assuming he wouldn't know what it was, then he said he used to have it on the playstation. I managed to escape without him having a go and without the PSP being stolen thanks to my train finally arriving.

PSP's are prized posessions, keep yours safe and don't trust a complete stranger with it, especially one who approaches you, they might run away with it! I knew I could have gotten it back if he tried to steal it, but I was more worried about damaging it in the process. I imagine i would take my PSP on holiday too, as its perfectly suited to that.

If I have any kind of wait like at the dr's office or some other kind of appointment I'll play. I play all the time at work as well. As far as letting a stranger have a "go at it..." uh NO! I pity the fool who would try to take my psp!

Playing on your PSP while riding a rollercoster!?! You'd have to be both insane and have the firmest grip in the world to do that! But to answer the question I've bought it to school a few times. I also have a protector case for the fat PSP...which I have a sheet of bubble wrap in so my slim PSP fits in nicely! :D

I'm always out in public when I'm playing my PSP. Never play it at home unless I want to kill the battery to start with a full one the next day. So, I wouldn't really have any special stories I guess.

I play my PSP everywhere...EVERYWHERE. That's the whole reason I bought a PORTABLE GAMING DEVICE. Seriously, you guys only sit in the confinements of your home playing a hand-held? That's more dorky or nerdy or imbecilic then playing on-the-go. I play before class, between classes when I have to stick around on campus, in the mall when my wife is trying on outfit after outfit after outfit. At the bar with friends when they (we...me) get so drunk conversation is futile. At the doctor's; dentist's; psychiatrist's; cult leader's office.

Stop being so paranoid of everyone wanting and stealing (only if you let them) your precious PSP and grow a pair and play it where it was meant to played...EVERYWHERE! Come on people. There's nothing better then killing time wherever you're at with some Hot Shots Golf or Puzzle Quest or FF Tactics.

I mean...for the love of.

Yeah, I bought my PSP specifically for using during breaks between my college classes. Thing is- I have to be careful and make sure my mom doesn't notice it hiding in my backpack- cause she thinks I generally study during my breaks.

Now, admittedly, I actually do study during my breaks when I've got alot to do- such as math homework- so the time I get with my PSP during breaks decreases as the semester goes on, but it's very nice to have during the early first-half of a semester. :)

I generally don't play my PSP in public, as I'm either doing something else so I can't play it, and I don't play it when I'm walking around because I'll probably run into something or someone, and I'll look like a idiot. I sometimes will play it when I go out to dinner or I play it on a plane, but I don't really play it in public.

Usually when we fly I bring it.

Other than that, I can't be bothered to lug it around in my pocket. Plus I feel sick when I'm in a car, bus or train reading let alone playing my PSP.

sorry for double post. anyway ya, my "story" of public playing (ok that sounded wrong :D ) is this. me and my best friend were siting infront of a metalhead store here in slovenia. so there we are sitting on the stairs, playing MHF2 (i think we were hunting rathalos at the moment ...). so after a while an emo came by right at the moment when i started to yell "im gonna kill you you darn imbecil, i hate you" (ya i have bad temper and the tail whip really stresses me out; and ya i was yelling in my language doh). and the poor kid looked at me with a terrified look saying please not again :D soon he realized i wasnt talkin to him.

I take it to school to listen to music, instead of playing games so I don't look like a dork, then people ask why I took such a huge thing to listen to music, and then get asked if i can bring games next time

I offen take mine to work & connect to an internet radio station then connect the psp to the stereo system & play it via the main speaker system for everyone to listen to. But other than work i take it everywhere with me, its hardly not with me & to keep it safe i brought a speical lock for it. The locks a small 3 dial combination lock with a 2 foot retracting cable. 1 end hooks to the psp's strap holder & the lock hooks to your jeans belt loops or to your backpack. You can see the lock im talking about at http://nzoab.info/product/1497/

PLaying Manhunt 2 in a crowded train is interesting, without earphones and volume cranked up its even more fun.

Absolute brilliant it is when the train is soo crowded that nobody checks where that strange sound is coming from, but everybody is turning their neck too find out.

I haven't taken it with me to school but I did take it with me when I went to Lebanon. I played it in the airport while waiting, I listened to music on it for 11 hours on the plane, and used it in the house over there a lot and my cousins did too, and I used it in restaurants.

Yeah, I usually bring it to university (while waiting for class to start, I log onto the school's wifi internet), but man... do I feel like a big dork. I don't know, while playing, i'm not even paying attention to the game, i'm worrying about what people might be thinking of me etc. But that's just me...

A girl at work told me she would never be into video games so I brought Loco Rocko to work one day to show her that there are more games besides sport games and fps. She went crazy with the game and a few days after she bought her own psp with loco roco. Now she is a gamer.

There are gamers out there that don't even know they are yet.

I played Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee nonstop when I was working as a marshall at a country club. A couple of the members there were fans of the game. Plus, the knowledge that I was getting away with playing a videogame on the clock was pretty cool :)
