broadband and playstation 3 online games

hello all. just a quick question. im looking to get broadband for online game play, and am wondering does playing ps3 online use up downloads?? and how much on average?? i wouldpossibly be playing it for at least 4 hrs every nite, how much gig would that use if any?? any help would be much welcomed!

Yes it does use downloads.

I have to pay for uploads and downloads in 10GB packs and I do sometimes go through the first 10GB.

I don't think online play uses a huge amount of bandwidth but if you use your internet for lots of other stuff like dling game demos, videos etc it can all mount up to a lot.

get an isp with unlimited bandwidth so you dont have to pay per time you use it.

ok thats good, so if i had a 10Gig download limit a month would that be plenty for online gaming, and the occational download maybe?? also what does uploads have to do with ps3's??

Upload is data sent from you to a location and download is data sent to you from a location.

So when you playing online games there is always data sent from you to the host of a game giving info as to what you are up to.

Bandwidth is like the capacity of your connection so basically how fast it can go.

so it would be a good idea to get a plan that has a reletivaley high download and upload limit?? like 10 -15 gig?? and a high bandwidth??

I don't know 10GB should do and unlimited connection speed is probably what you want it's supposedly what I have but here in New Zealand we have pretty bad broadband.

Some deals only count downloads because uploads are usually always a lot less than downloads.
