Browsing internet on PS3

What the purpose of it and do you use it? How safe is it? How much do you use it and what for?

I've been fooling around with it a bit and its pretty neat for certain things but it wont let you do everything. Youtube and some youtube'a like porn sites work, I can read everything on gamespot but I can't type in the message bar, I didn't try to send an e-mail but I'm assuming it would be the same thing as gamespot. When I signed on to yahoo.com it gave me some messages like it didn't really want me to be there. Theres no address bar so I just "internet search" the address I want. Facebook didn't really work but that might just be because facebooks being weird right now. It loaded my default pic but not my wall and I couldn't look at anyone's profile.

Oh, and every page is displayed like waaay zoomed in. It seem like something you ought to be able to change but i cant figure out how.

You know you could always just connect a computer through a HDMI cable or RGB cable.

Oh, I was unaware it was that easy to do. I always woundered if it was possible to connect a computer to a TV. Still, my computer sucks and doesn't really play videos and load reeeeally slow and the computer that I use most of the time is my moms laptop. So, I only use hers for appropriate material.

Hopefully one day a patch will enable Java on it.

Regardless of whether it's "safe" (however you mean) or not (I really have no idea) the fact is the PS3's browser sucks. There's really no reason for anyone to use it (unless, perhaps, you have no other way to access the internet).

It's cool that you can do it on a PS3, but i'd much rather use my computer or even a smart phone.

I used to use it as my primary browser before I bought my laptop. If you turned off the javascript it would work and load faster. I tried using it recently and the home page is really zoomed in. I dont know why that happens, and when you press R3 it does nothing.

Press and hold L2 until it zooms out to get the full screen. It stops zooming out once it hits the full screen. As for the browser, I rarely use it because I don't care for the browser, slow speed and the compatibilty issues. I wish they fixed it.

It worked pretty well when we had other os (firefox). The XMB broweser is a broken piece of garbage. Maybe some of the hackers will make a better one.

Dude.... ever since my PS3 broke... ive been wanting to use the web browser on the PS3 for music... and now that i have the PS2... I CANT DO IT!! so the we browser is definitely a great ad on

I listen to Pandora on it to get it up on my home theater. I wish Rhapsody would work on it, but it just keeps looping back on me when I try to sign-in to the main page. A Rhapsody PS3 App like the hulu plus and netflix app would be awesome.
