I am going to get this game for sure i loved the demo and the gameplay was just awesome. Its by epic and thats good enough for me. I am going to get it day one for sure as well as killzone 3. If anyone wants to add me my psn id is greatinbed420. Looking for new friends to play games.
The gameplay was incredibly meh, and the voice actors/script is just god awful. I think even a 9 year old would say its immature. No offense to 9 year olds. It will come and pass and Fail misserably. I see the price dropping insanely fast after its release.
Yeah, the demo was mildly entertaining but definitely not worth a new release purchase... I'm waiting for the bargain bin, and that's IF I even get it. Too many other phenomenal looking shooters coming out. I don't know why people love Epic Games so much. I have an Xbox 360, and there's a great deal of games and exclusives I love on it, but the Gears of War games are just plain awful.
The demo seemed quite good fun some of the skill kills were inventive i like it,the main problem is same day release as killzone 3, So i think i might get in a few months when the price drops.
I just played the demo again last night before deleting it (wanted to make sure of my impressions)... And you know where the game completely lost me? When the narrator says "Any-Hoo" right in the beginning, like some sort of sad secretary from the 1980s. I saw the face of that chubby actress from "Ferris Beuller's Day Off" who plays the secretary to the principle in Ferris' school.
"Aaaaaaany-HOO ... "
I thought to myself, "Oh Lawdy".
The game play is mediocre, with "Skill Kills" and "rough" language/ volumes of blood to cover the completely pedestrian nature of the design. Jumping over barriers is clunky, the power-slide and kick mechanics are pointlessly over-powered (plus the kick looks like something you'd see in "DOOM", and not in a good, homage-kind of way), and the tongue-in-cheek "Duke Nukem" rips are blantant attempts to add potty humor to the smoke screen, again, so that you don't see how middle-of-the-road the game turned out to be. And if there had never been a "Duke", if there had never been "Serious Sam", and "Borderlands" had never been, then there might be a place for Cliffy's new game... But there isn't.
It's pretty bland.I've seen video of one of the bosses, and I'm sure those will be set pieces, but the rest of the game is so boring to me...
If I'm going to give my money to a game for being "Duke Nukem", I'll just buy the actual "Duke". Hail to the King, Baby!
the demo has me interested. i like that there doesnt seem to be any collectibles so the pace is always driving forward (whether they be intel reports in killzone or skulls in halo, i impulsively search all around a level). a lowered difficulty (from the demo atleast) and big fat hit zones do the same thing and are fittingly empowering. the whole concept of sadistically killing enemies for more points reminds me of madworld which i liked a lot.
and the writing? of course its immature. its supposed to be and it knows it. the vast majority of pure fps's we play like killzone, halo, and call of duty are incredibly immature. bulletstorm is just more open about it and having fun with the idea.
[QUOTE="LoG-Sacrament"]the vast majority of pure fps's we play like killzone, halo, and call of duty are incredibly immature.Texas2089How do you figure? they revolve around having fun shooting hordes of enemies in satisfyingly gory fashion. shoot someone in the head and an exciting splash of blood greets your eyes and a "ding" noise gives you a nice pat on the back. theres no genuine commentary on the violence youre committing. its just fun.
I played the demo and didn't really like it. The only thing it seemed to have going for it was the whole "kill with skill" thing, but it felt really gimmicky to me.
Maybe I just haven't seen enough of the combo's that are possible, but even then it just doesn't stand out in an ocean of FPS's.
I don't think there's a lack of maturity shown by shooters such as CoD or "Halo", I think that these are games, and to that end they shove enough threats at you for you to feel provoked. The tone and presentation of those games have been quite serious and have tackled either bloody times in history, or species dominance and conquest in a far-off galaxy.
"BulletStorm" is anything but serious, and couldn't be further from CoD or "Halo" in tone. Apples, meet Oranges.
can you honestly say that World at War gave any real statement on WWII? i know i couldnt. its just a game where you have fun shooting things.I don't think there's a lack of maturity shown by shooters such as CoD or "Halo", I think that these are games, and to that end they shove enough threats at you for you to feel provoked.
