Buy a console because you like the console, not because of exclusives. Agree?

I own a PS3 (have no 360) but TBH I'm more interested on 360's exclusives. I chose PS3 over 360 because I own a PS1 & PS2.

So far, the only PS3 exclusive I own is MGS4. I'm not interested on the others. For upcoming exclusives...only God of War 3, LBP, and White Knight Stories are a sure buy for me.

BTW, in PS2, I have 45 games and only about 20 are exclusives. I bought PS2 because I own a PS1. :)

While I did get a PS2 for that very reason, the reason why I'm leaning more towards the PS3 over the 360 is largely thanks to the 360's disgraceful failure rate and online fees. Exclusives, on the other hand, do have an input too.

Why would you choose the most expensive of the two when you think the other's exclusives are better? That doesn't make any sense to me >_>

Well, if im honest i got a PS3 because of Uncharted and Naughty Dog (and Insomniac as well), but i also appreciate what the PS3 offered for me. If i had bought it for just one game alone then i would have been very disapointed. Instead ive kept my eyes and ears open for games/ offers i would like.

If anyone buys a consol for just one game then they really should consider giving that money to charity or something...

I liked the PS3's exclusives more than the 360's. Which is pretty much why I sold my 360 and got a PS3, most of the games I had on my 360 where multiplatform and PS3 had free online, controllers that don't require batteries, a controller I like better and the ability to play high def movies. The PS3 was quite easily the better choice for me.

i agree. i both of my 360s died. one lasted about a year, and the other lasted 29 days. so thus, i switched to the ps3, ive been happier since. yes i dont have halo, gears2, fable, but at least my system doesnt break =P

I got a PS3 because of future exclusives and the games available at that time. Another huge reason was no RROD or DRE like the 360 or PS2.

I have a 360 and a PS3, because I like to play everything and don't want to be denied of playing anything because it's on a specific system.

I do not agree with your title or way of thinking at all.

However I do know others that think the same.

I owned a ps1 and I bought an xbox as at the time they were better than ps2. I also wanted to play Halo. After that I bought a ps2 so the kids could play eye toy and singstar, plus I could play online for free.

Then I bought an xbox 360 so I could play Halo 3 and Bio shock.

Currently I am waiting to get my ps3 from the Bravia TV bonus deal that finished in July. I don't have any exclusive games that I want to play on the ps3, but I am sure there will be some to come plus I don't have a blu-ray player so that will come in handy as well

Also have gba and psp (might get DS and Wii for xmas). That way can play any game that I want to, instead of being limited.

No DRE? A lot of my friends on PSN and on GS have had DRE with their PS3s.

Had a 360 before but turned PS3 and really happy, but im not thinking about the present put the future 'cause if you see the PS3 will be alive longuer than the 360 (like the ps2 who is still making games) and 360 basic DVD system will have a hard time on the big games while the blu-ray holds up to 50 gig.

Why would I buy the cheaper one but dies early? For me it's the console that matters, not the games. I'd rather spend more to get a better quality.

I've actually had one too but I consider myself unlucky with that one. The PS3 has something like 2-3% failure-rate so it's going to effect people but not like the 360 that has something around 10-30% failure-rate.

My first PS3 stopped reading discs after 2 months but my new PS3 has worked over a year with not problem. I had three 360s on 5 Months though.

I know that the PS3 can break but it don't have that same high chance of breaking like 360. I've lowered the risk by owning a PS3 but I have not stopped it.

I first owned DS,then a wii, then I saw games in HD and had to have them, and I had an xbox original, and loved halo, so I got an xbox 360, and LOVE IT. BUT I then become interested in god of war, so I bought a psp, and i loved god of war soooo much on psp, that I had to play the other two, so I was going to buy a PS2, but then I heard that god of war 3 was on PS3 and so I bought a PS3, so I was introduced to sony due to the super awsomeness and killer death sequences of one of my now favourite franchises god of war. The power of exsclusives have a strong pull on my purchases, but now I own them all, so it doesn't matter.

The console you buy should be more than just buying it for the exclusives. There are a lot of other factors besides that. For example: I wasn't a big online gamer so when I was deciding between 360 and PS3, I prefered the PS3 because the online was free. There was also the fact that the RRoD is a big problem. I don't want a console that's gonna crap out on me 6 months after I buy it.

I got my PS3 in February for the exclusives and also because I'm on my third 360. My PS3 kept me busy while waiting 2 weeks to get my 360 console back. To answer your question, bought both consoles because i like the console and also for the exclusives that each has to offer.

I don't understand why you would buy a PS3 though when you seem to be more interested in 360's exclusives. It doesn't make any sense at all. You may call it loyalty to a company - I call it silly. You should obviously have both systems after reading your post.

Read the 4th post on the 2nd page. And I can't afford to buy 2 consoles in one gen. I think it's a waste of money.

thats the dumbest fanboy statement ive ever heard. "software drives hardware" its been said a million times. i buy a console for the games and which ever console has the better games, which almost always comes down to exclusives because you can find non exclusives on both, wins the war for me. i own a ps3 and a 360 and i play my 360 90% of the time because it has more and better exclusives...not to mention the online is miles ahead of psn. i think ive played resistance and metal gear solid 4 on my ps3 and thats about it because it has nothing else to draw me in to it, whereas on the 360 ive had gears of war, halo 3, mass effect and all the online games like rainbow six vegas and unreal tournament 3, which in my eyes are exclusives because psn is horrible, to keep me busy and not playing the ps3. so no you dont buy a console because youre a dumb and blatant fanboy, you buy a console for the best games.

This is dumb...you buy a game console because you like the games on it...you are paying a lot of money for not getting what you want. go buy a 360 if you like the games. im sticking with the ps3 because i like the games. im not dropping $500 on a console i dont wanna play. get a brain.

Unreal Tournament 3 is better on the PS3. Live is not miles ahead of the PSN anymore. When is the last time you have been on? I mean yes it has the standard achievement stuff and the voice chat in game, but that's about it. If you think that Resisttance and MGS 4 are the only cool games on the PS3 you must be a pretty shallow gamer. Anyway to answer the original posters statment. Yes exclusives do matter because if you can buy most games elsewhere then why a certain system. It is true that other features and stability do play a factor. Back in the early days of the PS3, no it wasn't hot. Now it is quite cool. The only thing that 360 has an edge on is RPG's, but most of them out right now aren't really that great.

As far as hardware goes, yes PS3 wins in multifunctionality and supporting things like flash drives, PC gamepads and built in wireless internet ability. As a whole package PS3 is the way to go other than the head set thing. The PS3 is getting mostly everything the 360 has and is equal in performance. Games that were exclusive to 360 like Bioshock and Eternal Sonata are coming to the PS3 with extra content. That doesn't mean that the 360 isn't any good either. In fact this generation you need to have all 3 to experience a healthy variety of games. Yes you will need Wii even though Fall 08 is a bit of a let down for it.

Owning 2 systems is not a waste of money. If you are happy with just one then that is your choice but don't say that owning more than one system is a waste. I am happy I got a 360 when I did because now the 60GB is out and the price is back up to 350. If you can find the 20GB for 300, get it.

There nothing wrong with owning any of the 3 systems. The fanboyism needs to stop.

Then you just wasted your money on PS3.

I'm not a fanboy. I don't brag about 360. I do play 360 in my cousin's or friend's place.

I play my PS3 3-4 hours a day. I'm enjoying it. It's just that so far I'm more interested on multiplats.

Currently, I admit that 360 has better games than PS3. But soon PS3 will have more great games, even multiplats. PS3 version is usually better than 360's.

I got a PS3 because I had a PS1 and PS2, but I enjoy the exclusives on the Playstation brand more so than the other companies. Plus what also helped in my decision was that the PS3 was more future proof and the Online would be free rather than pay $60 (CDN) a year even if it is yearly, thats enough to buy a game and in lets say 4-5 years that's either $240 or $300 dollars.

Ok well I got myself a PS3 because SONY was the company to change up the game and they have done it countless number of times. Sony has always been the brand name that I know means reliablity, Legendary and respectful company. I didnt have to even decide, I saw the 360 played Oblivion on it and it was cool but I knew that PS3 and blu ray technology was going to be the format winner and this would lead to better games down the road. Also if you ask anyone in the world, SONY is more known for the playstation then the 360 even developing countries like Morocco where I visit frequently. Because they love game like MGS, Grand Turismo and FIFA. I just knew the PS3 was the better machine because all XBOX had in the day was HALO that was it.... While I had Socom which is a better shooter then HALO imo. Also Sony has more more scalability they had made the system itself open so with updates they can change and add whatever they please, the 360 seems to be a locked system which you cannot do thing like Linux or expand the HDD like PS3. If there was not a company like Sony, we would probaly still be using cartrages for games. Sony was the first with Online gaming on ps2. They were the first With Blu Ray, so it just shows you what they are really about, they add new things to the market which just expand on the gaming and entertainment world its just crazy if you ask me. Also the damn PSP is another crazy thing, I own one I dont really use it like I should but when I travel its the biggest life saver with the media you can store onto it and the games are pretty good also. So yeah Sony isn't going anywhere 360 was cool for 2-3 years something like that why do you think they put price cuts on their systems because they are loosing the foothold in the gaming market. They striked out with the HDDVD expansion. Striked out with high failure rate. Striked out with holding onto a old format of DVD. So just a matter of time and their systems will become firewood really.

One of the reasons why I got a PS3 is because I have a PS1 and PS2 but I love Sony's 1st and 2nd party games that they have released thus far. I basically fell in love with the PS3 after doing 3-4 months a research on both the PS3 and 36o. The PS3 is a great piece of hardware and it deserved all of my money.

Terrible way lol. Kidding me right. If they had made great systems 3 times in a row why wouldnt you buy from them. 360 had fell off already imo. How would you then judge? lol

360 was never an option to me.. not that i have anything against it (i do not.. it is a great machine..)but never called me.. got my ps3 cause that called me.. i noticed it would be a machine and an investment in the future.. bluray, media center feature.. that makes it a great machine.. (and beats xbox360, in my opinion, due to RROD, wi-fi, bluray and no online fees..).

in the other hand.. the 20 or so % importance the PS3 exclusives have for me.. come from the fact that exclusives give the company money.. money keeps the production alive.. even if it is a great machine.. (like dreamcast was in my opinion.. simply revolutionary..) and good exclusives keep business going.. that and the fact that a game being an exclusive makes devs concentrate mainly on it and not worrying about prizes..

thats pretty much it.. :P

I am surprised that no one has said that the PS3 has already made sony lose 2 Billion dollars...thats alot. The PS3 is a great system...but it is only a matter of time before it is gone due to the fact sony is losing alot of money.

Yes, someone should buy a system because he loves the system not because it has one game that he loves.

Can't say that I agree cause I bought the ps3 mostly for tekken 6:P,but I love the console itself cause it has great features,a nice blu-ray player and a true next-gen system. The exclusives for me are better on the ps3 like resistance and killzone so I don't regret getting one.

Why would you do that...brand loyalty is a farce. Every new gen I look at the upcoming exclusives before I make a choice. Usually I pick more than one console though.

Exclusives. Blah! Play games you like. I bought a PS3 for Bluray (at launch nonetheless). I have only found a few captivating games. MGS4 & Uncharted are definitely at the top of the list. But I have put more time into PAIN, Monsters & Eden than many other disc based games. Some games are just bloated-crap, Grand Theft Auto, Assassins creed aren't worth the paper the booklets are printed on. Repetative and BORING.... to say the least. Play games you like. If those games are on a reliable system and not one with a 20-30% failure rate, all the better. Standard USB, Bluetooth, Free-Online Play, are other great reasons. Playstation is just forward-thinking.

i bought the ps3 because it had some games that i wanted to play plus it has the blu-ray player. i bought my other systems because they had games i wanted to play also. i have a great job so instead of sticking with one system, i just bought all of them. gives me more variety :)
