Buying a PAL PSP, how does transferring NTSC PS1/PSP games from my PS3 work?

i heard that on the psp you cant have 2 different region accounts like you can with the ps3, is that true? if so is there a way around it so i can play both ntsc psp/ps1 downloads and my normal PAL ps1/psp downloads?
