As the topic title says; I'm buying a PS3 next weekend. But, I want to buy a game along with it to hold me over the two weeks after that before MGS4 comes out. I have a 360 as well, so a lot of the multi-platform games, I already have. Assassin's Creed, The Orange Box, games like that. I don't have CoD4 yet, and I thought about it, but I'd rather have a great, long single player games. Not one that focuses way more on multiplayer.

Guy, this is a game site, so do some RESEARCH and figure out what games fit your gameplay style. Don't rely on us to kick something your way. You guys really need to see that the questions you ask really reflect who you are off these threads.
I have done research. I thought about Uncharted, and it looks good. But I don't want to play a game that will only last me 8 hours or so, even if it does have replay value. I want something that'll last me those two weeks waiting for MGS4. If it wasn't for the fact that I already had the multi-platform games on my 360, I would have decided to get one of those. I'm just asking for other's opinions to help me along.
If you need just one game, I suggest Uncharted. It's only single player with a great adventure vibe and a BIG fan favorite on the boards here. Ratchet is the same way as in all single player. It's so fun to get weapons and gadgets to blow stuff up. Heavenly Sword is a great single player experience with a lot of sword play. Resistance is a great shooter with amazing multiplayer and chilling single player. I narrowed it down to the best 4, so choose!
I rented Uncharted from Blockbuster. It was fun, but it only lasted two nights... and that includes some replay. It is worth renting, but not buying. I am sure this will seem cliche, but I think you gotta get GTA IV. I know some people are hating on it, but I think it's just the backlash any great game gets. The story is pretty long and if you include the side missions, it's epic.
As said GTA 4 now. And if maybe Cod4, Although short itself. Good. I would argue the Uncharted one thow. Thats also great. But it is kinda short. RandC is much longer. And pretty fun also. But you can go back also, ala Warhawk or RESISTANCE. Since your just starting.
But You also have to think "if your a fan" MGS4 Is 3 weeks off" And the hate MGS4, is just starting to build. And im sure will see bumps of more of it. LOL So you may want to hold intill that bundle and game.

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction for sure. So far its my favorite PS3 game. Fun shooting and platforming. Upgrading weapons, finding bolts and getting skill points all add to the replayabilty. Depending on how much you game a day, this could last you 2 weeks.
I also recomend Haze, despite the negative reviews. Its the first FPS I've enjoyed in a while. The multiplayer is alot of fun and the whole nectar idea makes things crazy.
Uncharted also seems like a really good game. I haven't played the full game but the demo was really good.

Any of those games he said and I recommend you hold off on buying Resistance as of yet wait for a price drop which should be soon seeing that the sequel drops November.
