So i get paid tomorrow and i want to get one but i need to know if the system is quiet and whether or not it overheats like the 360. I have a wii and 360 and love bothbut need a ps3 to complete the next generation line up. I also want to get a game and need to know whether resistance is good or is it just another Fear meets call of duty type of FPS.
The system is very quiet. It will not overheat like the 360 at all. It gets really hot, but that's only because the heat is getting blown out rather than staying inside the console. Resistance is a very fun FPS. Not the greatest in the world, but still really good. Always a lot of people playing online still to. And just checkout the fall lineup for the PS3. Xbox 360 won't be the only ones having fun later this year!!
it's very quiet.. (especially compared to the 360) and it doesn't overheat if you keep it in a good location with about 6 inches on the back and sides... it will automatically shut off if the heat gets too high. Resistance is really good.. i'd rent FEAR though.. it's a bad port. Welcome aboard

Resistance : Fall of Man is an excellent FPS game - best console FPS since Halo 2 imo ... Motorstorm is a fun enjoyable racing game but a little light on content Ninja Gaiden: Sigma is a must have if you don't already own the Xbox version ...
I have the PS3 and 360 as well - yes the hardware on the PS3 is a technological marvel. There are so many sweet little things and you can really tell that SONY went the extra mile when designing the console.
RFOM is a great frist game to get - it's what I got first too and I love that game. :)

I think the ps3 is somewhat loud. When I am watching a movie and it comes to a quiet part, I can hear the fan of the ps3 running. I don't own a 360 so I can't compare, but the ps3 is certainly louder than a normal DVD player. It does get hot too, but it doesn't overheat. I've found it to be 100% reliable with no glitches whatsoever. My advice is to pick up a 60gb before they run out because they still have the emotion chip in them for better backwards compatibility. PS3 is well made, looks expensive and it is. Resitance is a very good game, was my first game also along with 80/90% PS3 owners. I'm really looking forward for winter,the system don't overheat but works like heater at my room, I don't have AC so my room gets really warm sometimes(lol). But PS3 is quiet and the lineup for holiday looks awesome. Get right now with 5 free bluray movies.
