So I am going to buy a PSP soon and I just had some questions. I am going to buy a new one so please nobody say they want to sell me theirs. Anyhow, what accessories do I need to buy when I get one? And by that I mean what size mem stick, where is the best place to get a good price on a mem stick? Are there any good bundles out there? Do I need a usb connector media manager thing? Also could I get some major pros and cons to the system, and my last question is can the wifi play videos like youtube veoh flash and whatnot? Thanks

Uh, not too soon I hope. That is you have heard about the slim version coming out Sept 10 right? The one I think i'll probably get is the ice silver that comes bundled with Daxter and a 1GB memory stick for 199...sorry I can't answer you other questions but i had to at least make sure you knew about the updated slim version coming in about 6 weeks.

Get a slim if you like. But if you want the current one, get a Playgear Pocket (hardcase), USB cable or a Memory Stick Pro Duo adaptor, a 1-4GB stick and you're pretty much set.

Thanks for the info, I don't really know too much about the new slim, is it really worth it? Will it be like the difference in the ds phat and the ds lite or what?

really you think the DS Lite sucks and you think the PSP sucks even though it's not even out yet? Do you also think that if you wait until Sept.10 that you'll piss people off? Actually though you may be right about that because something about your whole post DID sort of piss me off somehow!

The good thing about the new PSP that comes out will allow you to hook it up to your TV to play the games and movies on the TV. So I would say wait for that one. But that is just me. Also if you can wait and do not want to play games on the TV when the new PSP comes out the older one will be cheaper. So you could say money if you want the bigger one.

I have an Xbox360 and XP Media Centre Edition so I already have all my songs and video on my TV. If you're like me, I would just go right ahead and buy the current one.

I've got an old PSP and I think there's enough new stuff on the new one for me to get it. It'll be slimmer and lighter, but most importantly it'll have more internal memory. It also has the ability to output video to the TV, although you'll have to buy the cables separately. The other difference is that the UMD door is no longer spring loaded.

Pros:
- more processing power than DS
- absolutely gorgeous screen, although I wish the refresh rate was higher
- plays movies (only mp4 and UMD), music and pictures
- built in Wi-Fi and web browser (b standard)

Cons:
- pricey compared to DS
- games aren't as "innovative" as DS games....although I can't say I like most DS games
- probably more fragile than DS so hard case is a must

You can use PSP Video 9 (free) to encode movies. I eventually went and bought a commercial program that didn't hiccup as much. As for music, I use the open source program CDex to rip into the mp3 format. The PSP also handles wma files.

The only real problems the PSP has is that the battery life is rubbish and that you can't use it in daylight on a sunny day.

Memory stick really depends on what you will be using it for. For just save games the standard small 32mb (i think) is big enough.

If you are going to do some of the more advanced stuff with the PSP, a bigger card is well worth the money.

A case is recommended, although I found the system to be stronger than it looks - i dropped mine onto concrete floor (not recommended) and the thing was fine

DON'T I REPEAT DON'T get a WI-FI Max! Buy a router that acctually works and dosen't take an computer IQ of over 180 or somin' to get working! You can buy a cheap router for that price!

EMZ:)

P.S DO NOT get a Wi-Fi max they don't work!

okay clearly you don't know how to set it up properly jackass!!

it does work and you don't need a router for it to work just a PC and an internet conection...IT DOES INDEED WORK...^_^

but if your not going to play MHF(2) online then a cheap router may be better

also do you know what XlinkKai is...

Xlink Kai+wifiMAX=great online expeirence trust me!!

Defenitly buy a string protection case. And a 1 or 2GB stick is good. Depens on what you use it for, if you won't put music, pictures etc.on it also 512 MB is enough

dont listen to him if you dont already have a PSP then get the slim coming out. you will probably like it more, but only if you dont already have a psp.
