Used game discs from GS/EB are usually in near perfect condition because of the coating on blurays. The box and manual however could be a different story. If you have a problem you can exchange it. The biggest con of buying a used game is the fact you're not supporting the developer.

Almost all of them work. If it doesn't im sure most stores will let you return it and gamestop has a 7 day return policy. Cons are they don't have case, manual sometimes and the developer doesn't get anything

The good thing about PS3 games is that they are on bluray discs, so the are pretty tough to get scrashes on it. I've bought used games from GS but cuz PS3 dont have scrashes on them. and if the give you scrashed disc then tell them to give you another, if they dont give another one then ask fo you $$$ back and go to another GS. I bought Heavenly Sword last month (a game from 2006) and the disc was in perfect conditions (the box not so much)

Worst con is you may not get free DLC from some games with codes.

Ask to look at the disc before buying, I always do, and I've never had a problem with them agreeing.

Of course as mentioned before PS3 games have the extra coating so it really takes a lot to damage one.

Just search out the best case with the best manual before going to the counter and you'll be fine.

I was lucky once, I bought Just Cause 2 and the code for all the free DLC hadn't been used. ^_^ Personally I've had 0 problems buying used games.

i buy used games over 90% of the time. in most stores that sell used games, you can open up the case to make sure everything is present. i like to support developers, but i have to support me first. anyway, i have never had issues with any used games or used consoles for that matter. then again, i have a family and career so i don't play as much as some people...

I buy used games a lot. It's expensive to be a gamer, so you have to save money when you can. I'll only buy used games though if they come with the original case and manual and the disc is in good condition. I like my games to be complete.

I sometimes buy used games from stores but most of the time I buy my used games from eBay. All of the used games I have bought from stores, the discs have been in good condition but sometimes the box has let it down, with scratches and dirt. Ahhhh the sticky bits of stickers you just can't get off! That's what really annoys me.

I don't have problems with buying used games, I just have preferences: Make sure the disc is not scratch and I got to make sure what place I am buying it from. If I had to chose between Used at Gamestop or new at Target, I would go with Target because I think they have better quality games than Gamestop. I still buy used at Gamestop sometimes...

yeah they are, they have a this thing, if it to scarthed they dont take it. And I bought a used PS3 once and i looked to see if there were scarths (nartually) and the guy said "the PS3 discs have something on them that make the partically scarth proff. So yeah you have a good bet of getting a used game in good condtion. And if not you just go back and say "this won't work" and they will give yuo a different one

The retailer does not send money to the developer on every game they sell, they buy big bulk orders and that's the retailer already paid the developers support money... Its then up to the retailer to clear the stock, so buying a second hand game never really takes away developers cut directly but in another sense it can, only if you wanted to buy it brand new and it was out of stock but they have second hand ones and you buy that instead, thenthe retailer is gonna order in one less brand new game for the shelves hence the "Not supporting developers". That's the only way you can buy a second hand game and not support the developer, it is never directly connected to you, because the retailer is gonna have a surplus amount of any game about 95% of the time.
