Hey , everyone. I decided that I'm going to join the party this late in the game. Would you guys recommend I buy a Japanese import? I was looking at a white Vita on amazon that looks neat. I really don't want the black one because my biggest pet peeve for phones and consoles are noticable fingerprints so, I try to buy colors that hide them as much as possible. Do any of you have a Japanese import? Do they function exactly like the Western Vita console? Help me feel comfortable with my future purchase. Tell me cool things and games about it!

On the console when you first start you can select English, the manual is in Japanese. It'll play any game

I think you'll be fine getting a Japanese import! As @shadowdragon mentioned, you'll just select English once you turn it on for the first time and then you'll be good to go. As far as games to play, PS Vita's game library has a pretty interesting selection. Do you like certain game genres?

My recommendations are: Persona 4: Golden, Uncharted: The Golden Abyss, Sound Shapes, Gravity Rush, Danganronpa 1&2, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, Rogue Legacy, Hotline Miami, OlliOlli2, Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.

There are also a ton of great PS1 classics and PSP games to get. :)

My original Vita was a japan import before it broke. It worked perfectly well. The only "issue" you might have is the power cord that doesn't fit into your socket, but you can load it with USB or buy a seperate power cord for your region.

Get Persona 4 Golden. You will not regret it. Even if you don't usually play JRPGs or like anime, it's worth giving it a shot. I was late to Vita island (bought mine in 2015) and P4G was my most recommended game. Bought it not knowing WHAT to think and I absolutely loved it.

The Vita has an interesting and surprisingly deep library. There are JRPGs aplenty but also check out some of the early AAA action games like Uncharted Golden Abyss and Killzone Mercenary. But where the Vita shines is indie games. I loved Guacamelee, Super Meat Boy, OlliOlli 2, Rogue Legacy, and Limbo to name a few. Also, many of the PS1 classics and most of the PSP library is available to play on Vita.

Also also, make sure you either buy a memory stick for it or buy one with one bundled in. It has to be Vita memory stick too and they can be expensive.

I'd say go for it. Don't expect many new AAA titles these days but PS Vita has a huge diverse library so far. My recommendations are Persona 4 Golden, Freedom Wars, Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remaster, God Eater Resurrection, Jstars Victory, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Ys VIII, World of Final Fantasy, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Tales of Hearts R, Oceanhorn, Gravity Rush, and Tearaway. You can also play a lot of the classic PS1 and PSP games as well. Last time I checked the Vita's library has over 1,000 available to be played when you include those. It's an older handheld system but it still holds up pretty well and is still the best handheld there is unless you choose to count the Nintendo Switch.
