Here is a list of "how-to" videos on YouTube. I've never had this problem *knocks on wood* but, from what I've read/seen it's fixable... if you know what you're doing, it shouldn't be too hard.

Always a reminder never keep a PS3 on the floor. That is what kills most of them.

Why not on the floor? Mines on the floor, original 60gb, and it's fine. Never had a problem.

I think there is a tutorial to repair your Playsation 3. But you must take off the plastic of your PS3. Here the link : http://www.seb117.fr/firm/YLOD_fix.pdf If you don't want to do that, you could clean your machine, maybe there is loads of dust.

Did you look at the videos on youtube?? All you have to do is re-solder the connections to the HDD... apparently the heat in the 60gig models is too much for the factory solderings. It takes some work to do it though... but it'll save you $150 or more.

Harsh.

If you pull up the 360 forum the first you thing you see is related to the system breaking. And as you scroll down you just see more and more. I'm betting their forums have twice if notmore threads about broken system woes. I mean come on, Microsoft made it...

Fixing the YLOD yourself requires a lot of patience, you HAVE to know what you're doing just a little because if your not the slightest bit careful you can destroy your system. I accidently broke a tiny piece of plastic which held in a ribbon cable and boom, i lost it all.

Option 1: send it in to sony and get a replacement,

Option 2: buy a heat gun, crack it open (and void all warranty) and follow a YLOD fix tutorial and cross your fingers it doesn't turn your console into a doorstop.

Just call sony so they can help you. Dont be a fool and mess around with it yourself. And next time let your ps3 get proper ventilation when playing it.
