Hey guys, I made a similar topic to this one a couple of weeks ago regarding THE ORANGE BOX and Unreal Tournament 3. Since UT3 will not be coming out until next year, I'm faced with the decision of choose which FPS to get until either UT3 or Killzone 2 comes out.

I was going to pick up Call of Duty 4 today, but chose to get Ratchet and Clank Future instead. I will wait until THE ORANGE BOX is released and reviewed before making my decision.

My question is focused to those who have played both games. Obviously THE ORANGE BOX owners will have played the game on 360 or PC. Which do you think is the better buy?

THE ORANGE BOX again looks like it gives you more game for your money, but the campaign and multiplayer in COD4 have been described as spectacular. How is Team Fortress 2? Does it compare in anyway to what COD4 has to offer?

Online is important to me, but single player campaign is just as important to me.

Don't say buy both because I am not planning on buying both. I don't need to buy 2 FPS at the same time. I still have Assassins Creed and Uncharted to buy. Plus, I plan on getting Burnout Paradise and possibly even Devil May Cry 4 when they are released.

Thanks for your feedback.

I would get COD4 only if you can get the Orange Box when it comes out. If you cannot buy 2 games before 2008, then buy the Orange Box because of the 3 Half Life games and TF2 and Portal.

Depends.... We don't really know if EA did a good job of porting the game... so if they did the orange box would be the best choice... if they messed it up (like we've seen before) then Call of duty 4 would be the best choice

COD4 is by far THE best game I have ever played for any system or computer. I beat the single player game last night and thought that it was epic to say the least. Its really not as short as some people are saying.

Then I moved onto the multiplayer. I was bummed to see nothing more then a few weapons and weapon options. But I stuck with it, useing the M16 that I am so used to. All the sudden everything just opened up (after about game 6). The perks are amazing to say the least and the weapons are even better. Its great to chase around someone at a much higher rank, kill them off, then take their tricked out gun. Cant wait till Im to that point.

The replay is off the chart. I really need to go back through the single player just so I can see everything again, however I dont see myself getting around to it. The multiplayer is THAT good.

I fear that Orange Box is gona be a crappy port. The game developers have already come out and stated that it runs much better on the 360. That doesnt hold well for us.

I also own Rachet and Clank. Great game but I'll never go back to it. Im just to into COD4.

Now that's impossible to tell at this point. I don't think anyone has even seen The Orange Box running on PS3 hardware YET. That's scary. At least with COD4 you know you're getting a great game, from a developer (IW) who cares to make quality software for the PS3, which you can pick up right now. You'll have to wait til, what, December to get Orange Box? And then, all that waiting and anticipation, and it could come out and be like the Madden 08 port. *sigh* I hate EA.

It does. Half-Life 2, Half-Life: Episode 1, Half-Life Episode 2, Potral and Team Fotress. 3 out of 5 are Half-life games and one out of them is arround 2 hours long only.

Yes indeed it does Tokyo90. ^_^

To the OP, if you have never played Half-Life I'd suggest you definitely do, it's a fantastic game. It will give you plenty of single player time to kill with still strong multiplayer.

I have played Half-Life to death over the years and personally COD 4 was perfect for a mood change. It's been awhile since I have been amazed with Epic Single player experience, (even though it was shorter then expected).

You have heard right, online is very good in COD 4. I love the balance and how the game rewards you the more effort you put into it.

If you are new to Half-Life, definitely pick it up, superb value for the money and great franchise game. Otherwise I'd go with COD 4.

Episode 1 is 2 hours long, I don't for sure for Potral, but heard 3-4 hours. Half-Life 2 and Episode 2 are 10-11 each. 26-30 hours of single player and many more of multi. Half-Life are rly good. They aren't shoot and run type or arcane style Imo. They have a really AAAA story in the backround, wich gives you strong feelings, like epic and sadness. I 'm playing HL 2 for PC atm and got to say I 'm impress by gfx and physics. The whole way story is introduce to you is rly unique.

honestly this is the question of the year in regards to FPS games. I already have COD4 and let me tell you the online is intense and so is the multiplayer. if the orange box had come out sooner I would have gotten that. Like others have said get both! otherwise I would have gone with COD4 (unless the Orange Box had DOD Source and Counterstrike on them, then that would have been my first choice).

FPS shooters was never my favorite or one of my top genres. I have a few FPS games now and have recommended GRAW2 and RFOM. After playing COD4 the last couple of nights, I was blown away with the game, especially in the online mode. It's that good. To think, this game wasn't evenon ofmy most anticipated games on my wish list.

I know nothing about the Orange Box, but if you can't wait for it, get Call of Duty 4 now!

Get both...

I have the Orange Box on PC and it's amazing...

I have Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on both PC and PS3 and it's also amazing(You might wonder why I bought the same game for 2 different systems???) Well, My PS3 is a my house and my PC is at work, so when there isn't any work to do, I'm playing the Orange Box or Call Of Duty 4 with my co-workers... I also just picked up Gears Of War for PC yesterday, so i'll be playing that also...

I'd definately get both if Iwas you...
