So I gotta admit that when I heard Call of Duty 4 was going "modern", I was a little skeptical. I really wanted them to stick with World War 2. But a couple of days ago I rented Call of Duty 4 and all I can say is WOW! This is turning out to be the best PS3 game I have played to date. I had heard good things about this game, but I had no idea how good it really was. Now, I really hope they stick with modern warfare or maybe even futuristic warfare, but I really hope they don't go back to World War 2. I have heard both, but does anybody know what Call of Duty 5 is going to be?

It think COD5 will be set in WWII, the pacific war perhaps. Then again, this is just stuff that I have heard, I have no confirmation.

I really like WWII games, cant get enough. But I didnt mind at all COD4 being set in modern days.

I could be based on a 'what if' scenario where COD5's set in a WWIII era. That'd be cool I think.

I've heard from a lot of people that CoD5 will be going back to WWII. Nothing besides that has been confirmed. However, since the game is already announced, I'm assuming it's not being made by Infinity Ward, so I can see how it'd probably be set in WWII again.

to go from modern with the customizations and everything then return to WWII era seems like the wrong direction in my opinion

All we keep hearing is that Treyarch will make CoD5 and it will once again be in WWII. If this is eventually confirmed, it'll be such a STUPID decision lol. Sales will flop terribly compared to CoD4.

I agree. Call of Duty would do much better sticking with modern warfare I think. Maybe Activision is letting Treyarch release another WW2 game while Infinity Ward will start working on another modern warfare game. At least I hope they do.

VIET Nam 4 life! That would b tight. or Korea since it was more conventional. I believe a cod5 based on ww2 again would b the worst direction to go at this point. Oh and PS3 owns!

That's how it works. Treyarch handles the odd numbers and Infinity the even ones, which gives each CoD a 2 year work time frame. For CoD3, Treyarch did not have 2 years, only one, and considering the diminished time frame, CoD3 was still a decent game, so I am hoping CoD5 will let the Treyarch guys redeem themselves.

which sucks

I have always enjoyed the WWII games and have found that there has been very small tib-bits of history in most of these games and they give us a feel of how the weapons worked during that era.

I enjoy the Socom games because they use tactics and modern weapons in a very tactical way.

The COD4 was close to what I enjoy in Socom games except some of the weapons just didn't give me the same feeling the Socom games did.

I wouldn't mind there being some WWII games that were based around some of the early special forces during that era.

Even the Korean war along with the Vietnam War could also make some interesting games.

For all that goes they could come up with some games that uses special forces from other countries working with other countries, working together in teams.

These kind of games could go on and on for years.

If it's a good game then I won't really care which era it's based on but I don't really know what there is left to cover in WWII.

Do you guys think that they will stop the COD4 servers because the new COD5 came out, or that they will have both running. If they shut them off, I can see a lot of gamers angry at Activision.

i think they should go with modern warfare part 2. moving the sceneary away from something that resembles the middle east would be a good idea.

I have not heard anything about a sequel to COD 4, but I too would like them to return to World War II. Other developers have tried unsuccessfully to protray the Pacific Theatre. It would be awesome if COD 5 finally gave us a truly great Pacific war game. Maybe in their hands they could get it right.

Infinity Ward runs Call of Duty 4, Treyarch is running Call of Duty 5. They won't touch CoD4 servers.

Most people who have CoD4 aren't going to get CoD5 since Treyarch is incharge. They didn't do a very good job with CoD3.

I dont want another WW2 game, but I would still play it.

They could do vietnam, then you would still have decent weapons.

I agree no more WWII. There wasn´t much of an off line game. But, the off line was short and to the point. The online of COD4 is good because you have to earn air stikes, weapons, and rank. Just getting a certian amount of kills in the game could give you so much. The thing is you have to play good just to get certian thing is sweet!!! I think they should stick to Modern War. Everyone can relate to it more.

they could just used what they learned now and use it for cod5 and i like WWII games and as for a futuristic war game for Call of Duty wouldn't be right for the game because its based on actual things not fantasy and thats why i like cod i would not buy a futuristic cod.
