Call of Juarez vs. Red Dead Redemption

After a drought, there are now some western games coming to PS3. This june comes Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and later comes Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption.

It's not my favourite genre but I'd like to have one of those games. Which one do you think will be better and are you waiting for one of them?

I'd go with Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar just rock. (No pun intended) :P

Red Dead Redemption seems much more bigger and fun. Rumours have surfaced that Red Dead Redemption has such a massive world to explore in, and I really hated the first Call of Juarez, it was so bad and clunky.

I'm going with Red Dead Redemption because the formula for GTA sounds killer in a western setting. I'm hoping they change it up somewhat so it isn't strictly GTA4 with horses and saloons.

The original Red Dead Revolver was actually developed by Capcom and was about half way done with development before they sold it to Rockstar and they just pretty much finished from there. I am loyal to Rockstar because they make amazing games and will buy this day one of release.

Red Dead Redemption by a longshot... Red Dead Revolver was a really good game, but fell just short of being a masterpiece. I've been saying that if Rockstar would just give it one more go, I think they'd be able to have something really special and I'm glad I finally get to see whether or not they fulfill that prophecy.

Meanwhile, Call of Juarez was a steaming pile... it was so bad I couldn't even finish the demo on 360, so the sequel hasn't even been on my radar. Frankly, I think the only reason people are talking about it is because they don't make enough Western games and because people are excited to have another 360 exclusive go to PS3.

Yep. I red a preview in Game Informer that said it uses the same RAGE (I think it's called that) engine.

Definitely looking forward to Red Dead Redemption. Old West sandbox game using the GTA IV engine sounds like a sure winner to me. I just hope they give you more customization options. I liked GTA IV, but the world got boring pretty fast. Hopefully they give you lots of customization options like Saint's Row 2 did. Like owning a farm and selling the crops, or buying the saloon downtown and being able to customize the inside.

Call of Juarez was decent and I think the 2nd one will be a pretty good title. It doesnt have the potential to be great like Red Dead Redemption, but it should be able to please most Old-Western starved fans. I welcome any old west video game, a period of time that should be given much more attention.

Interesting, I never knew that. That would definitely explain some things, like the little supernatural twist it took, and the odd portions like the dwarf shootout. Seemed a little...un-rockstar like. :lol:

Well then, yeah, I agree with your previous statement. They definitely will need to change some things up besides the era. I hope they manage to stop it from getting quite as stale as GTA4 did half way through (for me it did, anyways).
