eh...the virus would have to be a specially ps3 optimized virus i think...otherwise it wouldnt affect it
I doubt anybody understand enough about PS3 firmware to be able to hack it from online... beside, what are they going to get out of it? you PSN name? I don't think you need to worry too much about it. If hackers do decide to go after console, Wii's going to be their main target.
The old consoles it was extremley unlikley as they didn't have a HDD (but mostly because they were connected to the internet). If someone really wants to they probably could make a virus for the PS3 thought it would be extremley hard to distribute.
Anything is possible, all it takes is a will and a way. Right now though PS3 is such a small peice of the pie, its doubtful anyone would waste their time to effect such a small population. Nothing that is open to the internet is totally safe from hacking.

There's more PC's in a household than PS3's -- so hackers go for PC's. Plus, it's easy to write viruses for the PC.
I think your computer has the excessive question mark virus.
the ps3 software/firmware/operating system is all locked down, unlike windows, linux, or osx. it is possible, but you would have to have a far more active role in installing it than with a computer virus.
I have visited parts of the web with my ps3 that would inject a pc with infections that would make you have to format your hard drive. All I've noticed with the ps3 when spyware or viruses try to install to the ps3 hard drive it usually just freezes up and requires a restart.
Viruses are written for Windows and rely on .exe files. The PS3's OS is completely different. It's like getting a virus on your calculator. It won't happen.

That happen to me once.My poor,poor calculator.But seriously anything is possible,but this is truly one of those 1 in a 1,000,000 chances.
