Don't listen to the "game is too short" crowd. I've played tons of crappy long games. Assassin's Creed could have been a few silly missions shorter. Heavenly Sword is awesome and still one of the best games on the console. The graphics are stunning and the game play is smooth. I have videos on my site (address in the sig) if you're interested.
But it's a great game.
Have you played the demo yet? I think it's rock solid. I haven't played and beat the full game but just from the demo alone, I would buy. And I do plan to buy first thing this coming week.
Just to give you an idea, demos really do help in determining your purchases. I just played the Uncharted demo and I didnt really enjoy it. Yeah, the graphics are excellent, but the gameplay wasnt too good. Point is, I'm glad I tried out the demo or else I would have regreted my purchase. I know a lot of people loved Uncharted and it was rated highly, but it's nothing but eye candy to me. Voice acting, surprisingly, wasnt that great. And I thought Heavenly Sword was going to be terrible, but it turned out to be great, for me. Try the demo, you may or may not like, we all have different tastes. Dont take other people's words for it, try it yourself.
no i dont recommend it at all its the same stuff combat games like devil may cry and god of war and other games. theres nothing special about this game and yes it is short is a matter of fact its to me 7 hours and its nothingl ike assassins creed cuz after u win the game in assassings creed u can still find new stuff and complete lil side missions. and its fun to kill the soldiers and assassinate whom ever u want. its fun. heavenly sword isnt its simple combat game that gets boring after a short period of time and trust me, i do give every game i play a long time to prove itself until i give my honest opinion. buy dmc or god of war its got more hours of play and bosses are sick and its got an actualy story :O look at that lol so yes. o and for ur information heavenly sword is combat with circle du soleil stuff with swords :S and im not difficult with games.
add meee if u like good games lol *cough* not heavenly sword stuff like cod4, final fantasy, god of war, dmc, burnout, assassins creed stuff liek that :P cya

great game, i've played through it 3 times, and its just as fun as the first, if not more :Damericahellyeah
Exactly. It's a must own for PS3 owners.
its a great game, action packed, gorgeous visuals and solid gameplay... I recommend getting the game..
I really enjoyed playing this game. Yes its a we bit of a button basher but it does take a wee bit skill and it does have some impressive fighting moves.
Overall fun game but no replay value unless you want to complete the game again. You can complete this game in 6 to 7 hours so i would just rent it.
Its not the shortness on why I wouldn't reccomend it. Its just that its basically one badly made button masher. The framerate can barely stay 25fps it looks like, and it effects gameplay majorly. Looks nothing as smooth as a devil may cry, ninja gaiden, or god of war. Then the characters themselves were more annoying than anything. Nariko sounds...more manly than some men. The game just simply feels....rushed.hazukiAgreed on all points. Spend your cash on something better. (Like GTA, Cod4 etc) If you really want a hack em up, buy DMC4 instead. at least its (almost) worth the asking price.

I disagree. I owned the full game of DMC4 and just by playing the Heavenly Sword demo alone, I can already say Heavenly Sword is a lot better. That's just me and my opinion though.
Heavenly sword is a fantastic game, you should be able to grab a used copy for 30$ this days around since the game has been out for quite some time.
How long or short the game is - never affected my buying principles - but the quality does. I have played numerous long games that are pretty bad and only try to extended themselves for the sake of it. You can rest assured Heavenly Sword is a great game in every aspect, it has outstanding voice acting, gorgeous graphics and very fun gameplay. You will have fun from the beginning to the end.
Despite what some folks claim it's not just bashing buttons, especially in second part of the game. I can guarantee that majority of players never even once used aerial combos or connected different combo stances when dealing with enemies.
The game does have pretty deep combat system if you're willing to explore it.
And Kai missions are just great on their own. It's true that the game is short, however the quality of the game is fantastic.
Buying or not, that's up to you, it completely justified mine purchase. If you have a chance, play the game. :)
I'll keep it short & sweet!
If you're a PS3 owner, you should NOT miss out on this game!
The detail, visuals, graphics, story & gameplay is amazing! It is not a button masher. There are many intricate combos you can use to keep things interesting.
If you can find Heavenly Sword for less than $30, go for it!
Enjoy!
I found it disppointing TBH. I completed it in around 5 hours and I have no disire to play it again. I just never got into it. I was just getting to grips with all the combos and then you are suddenly thrust into an extended play session as Kai. After I had slogged though that (I find the shooting sections in Heavenly Sword pretty tedious) there is only an hour of the game left and most of that is spent in boss fights. While I had fun with the game I never felt as if I had a full experience. There was not enough attention on the combat (one of the main drawing points) and too much attention on other things.
Don't listen to the overzealous critics and video game snobs around here, Heavenly Sword is a fantastic game. graphically it is one of the best games available, it's has one of the most cinematic presentations of any game available, (I'd say only Uncharted tops it in terms of movie like presentation). The combat system is awesome, the charcters and acting are probably the best done of any game. It's definitely one to have in the collection, and is a true showpiece of the ps3's power at this early stage. Remember quality trumps quantity, and HS is mos def a title made with top shelf quality.swordfish_64
