First of all, does the search function work on these forums? "DriveClub" doesn't show a single post or could not be found within the body of any thread?

I was so revved up to get DriveClub several months ago. The car detail, the weather, the UI - it all looked so gorgeous. I couldn't wait to get behind the wheel. I opted to wait for the PS+ chop shop stripped down version before paying for the luxury model. That seemed so fortunate too, since the early adopters were taken for a ride with technical issues.

Does DriveClub have so many engine problems that they're going to be left in the dust at the start line? At this point, I've lost so much interest in this 'old' game that I don't have the urge to purchase it unless it falls into the sub $20 price range, and has all of those dings buffed out. Even if they do recover, and release a demo for those of us that they've scared away, I think they've lessened the chances that this IP is going to have a good legacy to build upon to become DriveClub 2,3,4...

They better check their mirrors, because the competition is about to lap them too. Project Cars was just a tiny KickStarter campaign a little over two years ago, and their debut is just about a month away. I've started to pour all of my faith into this title to fill the PS4's nearly-empty racing tank. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

tl;dr - Anyone still interested in DriveClub if they fix the game? I'm 'meh' about it, waiting for the next big thing.

Most of the bugs and problems it had have now been ironed out and if your a racing fan the game is a blast the graphics are top notch, maybe not as great as first appeared but non of the less really good, the weather dynamic is amazing and adds a whole new element to the racing, night racers are great to, the online seems to work well now but I've not really touched the game all that much as i'm not really one for racers. it's worth a buy if you like driving games.

@GTR12: you must be the Life of the party. C'mon it was a little clever. I'll dumb it down next time. I even put in a tl;dr for people like you.

Oh, I missed another one.... I could have said, "...become DriveClub 4,3,2..." Get it? Hilarious. Smile more; you'd live longer.

@psn_m1nat3k:

I think it's great. I haven't encountered any problems so far. Purchased it for $40 from best buy.

Dynamic weather is awesome, graphics and the rain are great as well. It's not really simulation, nor is it arcade..it has a nice balance to keep it fun.

I purchased it because i like new ip's and love track racers. i have gotten bored of gran turismo and forza, and i also like the developer because of motorstorm 1.

It's a good racing game, not the best but it's fun. I highly recommend taking a look at it if you like racing games.

Edit: love the puns lmao

@polishkid99: Thanks for your informed response. I wanted to hear from someone who owns it, and it sounds like you have first-hand experience. So you get online with no problems, or is it the offline mode that is the main draw? I think I would prefer offline mode in my track racers as long as the AI is good.

AI gets pretty irritating later on. The game does a fantastic job of progressing the difficulty. You start off on easy (hatches) and continue your way through events until you unlock super car events, performance events, etc. I have limited experience with the online. I have participated in quite a few online races but I hear the real draw are the online clubs which I have not really done anything with yet.

Racing games fall into my game category of "pick up and play" for short bursts of time, fifa also lands there. So, offline track selection racing closer to simulation is my cup of tea(I love trying to beat my own lap times), and this game does an excellent job at that. don't expect to be wow(ed) by anything other than the graphics, particularly the weather. It's pretty much "just another racing game" but is that a bad thing? it's fun. Just don't go into it expecting greatness.

Don't we all just hate people who talk about the game but haven't played it, yes you haven't played it.

The weather is boring? LOL

When did I say the weather is boring? I said "don't expect to be wow(ed) by anything other than the graphics, particularly the weather."..and "Dynamic weather is awesome, graphics and the rain are great as well. It's not really simulation, nor is it arcade..it has a nice balance to keep it fun." The weather is amazing, the best I've ever seen. I literally just said you will say wow at the weather in my response.

and I won't be arguing with you if I own the game or not because accusing me of not owning it is..hm. stupid. In my previous response I stated that I "Purchased it for $40 from best buy."

@GTR12: that's an amazing water simulation. With that being said,i think you misread Polishkid's response. I believe he owns the game, and emphasizes the weather is one of the biggest accomplishments that the developer got right.

The game is great. After all the bullshit that has gone on with this game I wasn't going to go near it, but as of late it has been receiving some praise from those who have played it recently, so I bought it on special a few weeks ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Haven't played any MP, and don't intend to, just been having fun with the SP.

@hitmanactual: I'm glad to hear that you had the same mindset as me. I'm not big on the forced online multi-player aspect, and would probably stick to just single player until I've unlocked everything. I'll pick it up the next time I see it on sale.

I really enjoyed the beginning of driveclub, once I got a few stars and started racing the real fast cars it became too hard,

I'm prob not that good at the game, but it definitely is fun,

right now I'm playin forza horizons 2, which I got around the same time, and I spending more time on that, simply because to me, its more competitive and not has hard to win a race.

I think with driveclub, its more a slog, u need to redo the tracks over and over again to eventually cut your laptime by a second, and then repeat the process until u get the stars.

@profanityVP:

i still have to pick up horizon 2. I'm pretty excited, especially for the classical music! Played the demo. It was awesome.

I love the slog in driveclub and memorizing the tracks! When i cut my lap time even by a little, it's the greatest feeling ever!

I find DriveClub handles to close to the simulator side of things for my taste, so when the inevitable digital version get's deeply discounted or goes PS+ I'll pick it up again, otherwise I've traded it in and have no regrets. It was quite beautiful to look at and it has moments of glory but gameplay wise was overall boring and lifeless. I'm immensely enjoying The Crew instead.

Here's hoping DriveClub will turn out good.
