I really dont feel like paying a big 150 to sony just to fix a darn lens that cant read discs, can geek squad help with this issue, or any other services.

-note that I did not buy my ps3 from best buy so... And can't you call geek squad to come to your house??

Man just fix it yourself. It's quick and easy with online tutorials, and only costs about $60 for the new lens.

Is that a serious question? They're the Geek Squad man! Seriously pay Sony dude. I dread anything happening to my 80 gig BC PS3 , but Sony is all I would trust with it. Still wish they offered a service plan like MS did with the xbox and 360 though.

The laser itself cost ~$80-100 so you'd end up paying a lot more any where else, just call Sony.

Paying Geek Squad to do something for you is like paying someone to flush your toilet for you.

Come on folks. If the guy is asking for "Geek Squad", you'd might as well just leave him and his PS3 to their fate. Despite his "never pay Sony" reply. But it did just prove my point...

..and they'll charge you $300 to do it too.

"Geek Squad" was made for rich dumb suburbanites who have a hard time just turning on their iPods.

Sony is the best choice followed by doing a craigs list search and ask around. I for one would use Sony for something I can't fix myself but just for a defective lens I would just fix it myself.
