I just got my PS3! And I just wanted to know if I have to use an ethernet cord for internet connection, or can it connect wirelessly?

Also a side question... does Blu Ray play in 720p?

Thanx!

The 60 GB model comes with wireless support built in.  You can use WEP, WPA, or WPA2.

Blu-ray movies have been able to play at all HD resolutions since the 1.80 update.

I have a wireless router so does that mean I don't need any type of connection between my ps3 and router with any wires?

I just tried to connect to the internet and it's saying that the ethernet cord is not connected... which I shouldn't need since I have a wireless network in my home... so what am I missing? Do I need to connect with an ethernet cord first and download all system updates and then I can connect wirelessly? Thanx 4 all help.

Seriously READ YOUR MANUAL.  Then go to the network settings and set up the wireless network connection.

No; you would need to use the wireless connection.  Like I state above either WEP, WPA, or WPA2.  Will you need cat5 or cat6 cable?  No!

You have to go into the network settings and set your wireless settings from there. As for Blu-Ray so far it plays them at the highest resolution your TV will display (the console will usually auto-detect these settings) if you have the cables/HDMI selected in the settings. Another nice thing is if you happen to forget which connection you have you can have the console to change the settings and auto-detect the correct settings. Just hold the power button until a second beep from standby mood and the console will do the auto-detect.

I know about this little trick because I have used it several times just to see if it would really work.
