[QUOTE="dewmandew7"] [QUOTE="Durkoki"]^ Housecall is very nice, and on topic, I actually have gotten a virus, I don't think it worked the way it was supposed to, but it wiped out icons on my PS3, everything else was there, just no icons. BTW I think it happened because I moved from music straight from LimeWire to my PS3, I shall never make that mistake again.YourChaosIsntMe
You deserve to have your PS3 break on you if you're going to steal music. People that do that make me sick.
Music is not acceptable as a commodity. Furthermore, the majority of musicians whom support the RIAA are commodities themselves, not legitimate artists or musicans. Their music is usually garbage. There are exceptions to this rule, of course. 90% of musicians and composers throughout human history have never expected to generate more than a modest living with their art. Likewise, to discuss the ethical or unethical nature of such behavior, semantics would certainly stagnate the debate, so conclusively stating whether such actions are either ethical or unethical in our consumer culture is basically impossible, my Kohlberg's Stage IV friend.
Well, if you reside in the US, pirating music is a copyright infringement. Unless you are a Marxist/Communist, music is definitely a commodity so the infringement is the exact same thing as stealing. Whether or not you agree with the laws, it is not up to you to decide what to obey and what not to, as long as you live in the country, it is still the duty of the citizen to obey them (this is under the assumption that either you or the topic creator reside in the US). While you seem to adhere to your liberal viewpoint, by citing Kohlberg, I cite that you would be a Stage I, only doing what it takes to avoid getting caught. Blind faith in the law of your country is ignorant, but sidestepping the law simply because it is an inconvenience falls within the same category and leads to chaos. There is a reason Stage III and IV are conventional and Stage I is not. I don't agree with Kohlberg's development chart about being born without morals, but I do believe in the categorizing of the stages.
