can I play dvd in 1080i thru compenments cabples?

No only through HDMI sucks I know, at least you can upscale your ps2/ps1 games to either 720p or 1080i through component:D

That is possibily one of the most self-contradicting statements I have ever seen. I would help you, but I have to get an HDTV.

It's not contradictory he just didn't punctuate it very well.

The answer is in theory yes BUT the reality is that if the DVD is in any way copy protected the answer is NO. So far I've not found a single DVD that plays upscaled via Component sadly so I can't even tell you if it does actually look better :(

And the other bit is true too...You can upscale old games via the component cables.
