I not entirely sure but I think I have a PSP 3000. If I can't play Japanese PSP games on my PSP, what can I do to be able to play foreign games?

PSP is region free, just like the PS3, so you can play Japanese games 100%.

Didn't Sony release some sort of patch to take out the region free aspect of the PSP and PS3?

I don't mean to bug you but are you sure that works specifically for the PSP 3000? I've heard a lot of mixed answers about whether that model can play foreign games.

UMDs for the PSP and PS2 games/DVDs are region specific but for games no worries. I've read nothing about new updates implementing region-lock, and I've looked.

All right thanks! So as long as the UMD is a game and not a movie it should work, right?

Doh! Sorry yes that's it what I meant. UMD movies are region locked but games are ok!

No, not per se. The recent firmwares, for PSPs, (the ones adding digital comic reader) did do a bit of tweaking in relation to some content that can be played/displayed from PSN stores from different regions as too is the Netflix option locked out (region-wise) from any PS3 that's not a US/N. American model (I have personal experience w/ both as I have both an import JPN PSP-1000 & PS3).However, games (for both systems) are still region-free.

(Sidenote: have to say love your sig, lol. nice to know someone else know of the greatness that is Bakemonogatari ;) )

Sony also recently added a Japanese imports section to their PS Store so I imagine games would be region free or they wouldn't bring that market to their American website.
