I am getting tired of my xbox 360 and I am considering getting a PS3. The only reason I still have my xbox is because I stream a lot of divx/xvid videos to it via my wireless network.

Does the PS3 have this ability without having to do any modification? If so, does it work well and is it easy to set up?

The PS3 (like the 360) can use any DLNA media streaming server. Most DivX and XviD videos would be supported out of the box. Windows Media Player 11 will stream media to a PS3. If you try WMP11 but get a lot of unsupported file errors you can use TVersity which will transcode the files on the fly to a PS3 supported format. If you use a Mac you need to use Nullrivers MediaLink.

Yepp, and it's very easy to set up. Just enable media sharing in Windows Media Player, turn on ps3, allow your ps3 to use the shared media and you're done.

Alright thanks a lot guys.

it sounds just as easy, if not easier than doing it on the xbox 360. Looks like I might be getting one of these things anyway. Possibly the 80gb.

I would just buy a cheaper 40gb PS3 then with the savings buy a 120gb hard drive and install in your new PS3 giving you 40gb more than you originally would have had when buying the 80gb. Look on us.playstation.com under support manual to see how to install another Hard Drive to PS3 or use an external hard drive. or buy an external hard drive.
