Can i take a PS3 guitar and use it with the PS2 guitar hero games?

so lets say i wanted to pick up the first guitar hero, and Rock the 80s. could i take a wireless les paul, and play those games on my ps3?

i think so i was about to ask this same question

I had both a guitar hero 3 controller and a world tour controller and they would not connect when trying to play guitar hero 2 with them. Hope this helps.
