Can Japanese PS3 play american games?

I'm thinking of getting either a white or a silver one for my other TV. But before I order It I have to be sure.

American PS3 games: yes

Region A movies: Yes (US and Japan share the same region)

PS2: no

PS1: no

DVD: no

yes a *** ps3 will play american games EXCEPT ps2, ps1 games , and american dvds. Trust me on this because i have a *** 60 gb ps3. Blu ray movies will also work because *** and US are in the same region. DVDS on the other hand are not.If you want to play ps2 games you will be out of luck. If your just for the bluray games and movies then your fine.
