Can not connetct to internet

 I getting this message when testing my connection on my ps3

Internet Connection: Failed

an error occurred while resolving the name with the server. (80710102)

I have the same problems but I'm using a wired connection, I plug the ethernet cable into the back of my PS3

then into the back of my modem where my computer usually plugs into, and I have optusnet broadband.

If I try to test my internet connection settings with the modem off and it obtains the ip address, but it cannot get the internet

connection going saying that message that the name with the server could not be resolved or whatever.

When I try it with the modem on it doesnt even get the IP address, I'm not familiar with those terms like Unpp and NTU and all

that so try to keep it simple, I really need help with this 'cause I'm out of ideas.
