Well Im thinking of buying a PS3, mostly just for Resistence, Metal Gear Solid, Killzone, Heavy Rain and maybe Drakes Fortune. Bidding on a PS3 on ebay now, wanna get one for cheap, the blue ray drive on the one I might get doesn't work but everything else works on it.

Doesn't really matter to me Im just wondering if the PS3 can play Blue Ray movies via USB, is it possible? Anyone tried it? (you know dling movies) Now that there are 12gb USB's out there.

I do it often so yes, assuming its in a format the ps3 can support, and i have used a 1080p as well i have loads of blu-rays that i like to have digital so i can safely say yes it works.

Edit: If the Bluray drive doesn't work then why are you going to get games? They won't run...

Well on the Auction the guy says this

The PlayStation was used mostly as a media server, so I didn't care about the non-working blue-ray player. I don't know, what is wrong with the blue-ray device. Maybe you can fix that. Everything else works perfectly.

You could proberly get the BR drive fixed but honestly you'd be better off buying new and not taking the risk. And as others have said you couldnt play games on it either so you'd buy it and need to fix it costing more money and even then... well I'd never buy a second hand console from this gen. you never know quite why someones getting rid of it. There may be other issues with it or it might be the guy has had it fixed but its broken again ect

Buy a new one or atleast from a store which offers gaurentee on second hand so any issues wont be so painfull

I need money for other things right now, even though the PS3 120GB Slim is on sale at some places Im not paying 300$ just for a bigger hard-drive and smaller system. Screw that.

You ever hear about the guy selling the wooden car, with the wooden motor and the wooden doors?

It wooden work. That's the same problem you're gonna have. Don't inherit someone elses headache. Buy it new or not at all.
