Nice to see that you finally found a ps3. :) According to sony the ps3 is 97% compatible with PS/2 games. If it is better to play them on your ps3 i don't know, but if you would like to experience rumble for your ps2 games then its better to play them on a ps2 console.
I think over 90% is pretty good, just make sure the game you want to play on PS3 is compatible(mostly will). And the best thing to play ps2 game on ps3 is you can now save whenever you like without worrying too much on the spaces.

of course there was some games that had problems, dont know how many still do but it was a small amount to begin with and id assume its even smaller now
Yeah you can play them but they do not look as good, maybe later they might do an update .. if you play the same game on the ps2 it looks better than ont he ps3 i have no clue why... it looks real pixelated..not to the point were you cant see anything but worse than playing on the ps2.
