Ok, at $499, the PS3 is an absolute steal given what I've seen at E3, and its time to get one. I was going to wait until August, but this news by Kaz has me thinking that this week or early next week are the times to do it and get it done.

However, he said that they had enough supply of the 60gb to last the "territories" a few months. Does that mean I could wait conceivably 2-3 weeks and still find a 60gb on shelves?

To me, this signifies the end of the Emotion Engine chip in the PS3 in America, and I desperately want one. I just need to know timing so I can know how miserable I have to make myself when it comes time for bills etc. etc.

Thanks for the help.

P.S - Given that bills are right around the corner, and I've got about...$1300 in the bank at the moment (getting paid monday around 500 but its never good to plan paycheck to paycheck) I won't be buying any games, cables, or accessories. Can someone point me in the right direction of a place that sells cheap-ish HDMI cables LOCALLY (No online stores if possible.) Does Sony make an HDMI cable?

buying hdmi cables is expensive locally. expect to pay 50 dollars or more instead of like 10 online. also i would assume that you would be able to find a 60 gig in 2-3 weeks, unless there really is just a HUGE sales boom between now and then

Yeah, you should be able to find cheap cables online, in stores they only sell the expenisve ones. I can tell you, that you should never pay more than 20-25 bucks for an hdmi cable, because they are basically all the same. In store hdmi cables, I've seen semi cheap ones at game crazy, where I bought mine for 25 bucks, but really online is the way to go. In terms of supply, kaz did say that there is enough supply for the next few months, but i recently read a few threads which people said they had to go to multiple stores to find a 60 gb ps3 so at this rate, it may become like the wii where they say there is plenty of supply, but they are always sold out, though it all depends, that may happen closer to the holidays so don't worry about it.

I think that the 60GB will be around thru x-mas and possibly till end of year atleast cause they know thats when most people get one for kids so i say easily 2-3 weeks should be some. As far as HDMI cable goes yeah $10 online but i got mine NON-sony brand at walmart 6 foot long which is good enough for me forless than$30.

50$ for a HDMi cable? Yeah, if u buy one which is like 70 feet long... and no, there won't be a sales boom that huge... there just can't be.

It's just a matter of time that moving forward allPS3s will ultimately run on software emulation for PS2 games, irrespective of whether the Emotion Engine chip is found inside the PS3 or not.

So I won't be too worry to secure a PS3 with the Emotion Engine in it as moving down the road, it'll still be bypassed by the software emulation.

It's just a ploy to get you to run out and buy it while supplies last. By X-Mas the Motorstorm pack will be $500.

As for HDMI I wouldn't touch a $5 cable, but I wouldn't buy a $130 cable either, not again anyway. If you want pristine audio and visual get something with decent connectors.
