They pretty much have reached their goal, I mean so what if it doesn't reach exactly 11 million, it is still a lot than they have been selling. Back in september they were only like at 5 million so to sell almost 6 million in half a year or so, that isn't bad. Considering all the bad press and issues with games they have had It is actually surprising to see them doing at least ok. They need to do 4 main things
1. ADVERTISE
They never advertise anything. I have seen the lost odyssey commercial and the 360 devil may cry commercial like a billion times. They did have a commercial for mlb the show but those are so few and I assume they aren't doing anything for hot shots, I can't believe there isn't an american/euro demo. This is why the "ps3 has no games" way of thinking continues.
2. They need to come out with an advanced online and tell us what home can do for games. I mean there was that kotaku thing that said warhawk will have a war room and resistance will have extra rooms that contain story elements and uncharted will have a mini game. Will you be able to enter a game as a group? Will you be able view your trophies from psn?
3. They need to make sure that all the games of 2008 come out on time none of this delayed garbage, and continue to make sure multiplat games run equally as good as on any other system. Not that Lair and Heavenly Sword were bad, but they weren't any where near as cool as they were supposed to be. Sony needs to make sure that Haze, Socom, and Killzone 2 are actually extremly fun. Little Big Planet needs to be awsome and uploading a level needs to be pretty quick and not slow. They are selling alright now because they are affordable and a lot of people probably don't know about their games because no one could afford it before and now they are looking as to what games to get for their new system. If Sonly screws that up then they can pretty much kiss themselves goodbye. Why do you think Sega isn't in hardware anymore? They lost the trust of the people.
4. They need to standardize things like voice chat, keyboard and mouse, and trophies, and throw in support for new things such as maybe BIN files. Throw us all the old games that japan has. They need to make sure there are no online problems like with COD 4 and whatever else. Although I have never experienced any of the things I have heard about.
2008 will be a make or break year for the ps3, and I really don't want to be stuck playing nothing but mostly war games on the 360, no offense.
