Am I the only one that thinks it needs to die off? It gets worse every year and it's scary how much people play it. Also, it feels like it's killing the industry. People don't buy/play any other games because they're so hooked on the pressure lag fest. What are your guys' opinions on the series?

i agree. the cod games do get better but at the same time it gets worse because of all the noobs and kids. whatever happened to a real tactical shooter like socom used to be? well one game that will keep me busy and prevent me from even touching a cod game is elder scrolls v: skyrim.

Yes thank you. Little kids run XBL/PSN and if a game isn't super fast paced it sucks apparently

Don't worry, Sony's security issues are allowing the hackers to do that for us.

I say it's a good thing if it doesn't spread to other good series. If it stays to cod i'll be happy, maybe keep people off of it for once

Getting tired of Black Ops to be honest. I may trade it in towards Little Big Planet 2. Name the game Call Of Duty and it sells through the roof while other shooters don't get the recognition they deserve. Selling map packs for 15$ when you can get a decent PSN game(Dead Nation, Undead Nightmare etc.) for that price.

Def a bad thing. It means less COD sales only on PS3 so the next COD games on PS3 will be even crappier than their 360 counter-parts. COD ain't dying for a good long time and as long as it's around I'd hope we get versions equal to the 360 ones rather than sloppy seconds a la Black Ops.

Yeah but I would rather have it die off on consoles altogether. And to the guy above, spot on.

I would claim this. "I learned my lesson with COD4" when it was popular. They've done nothing but copied that game for multiple releases and they haven't even bothered to fix the issues or security that really became a problem.

It's nothing but rushed garbage and you're all being taken for a ride. I saw that a long time ago..

But that's the point, it won't die on consoles altogether if PS3 is the only one with issues. It would just die on PS3 while 360 COD would go on just fine.

I don't think it needs to die off, it just needs to decrease in popularity somewhat. I think too many shooters try to copy it, and a little time outside of the public eye might be a good thing for the genre.

I love how gamers always want to "kill" off the franchises that they don't like -- which in no way equal to what the general population likes -- when they shouldn't even care since they are not disadvantaged in anyway by their popularity or the supposed decrease in quality.

Well PS3 users get treated like crap anyway when concerning the COD games. Inferior ports, more lag/disconnections, later DLC packs, the list goes on.

The fact is, they don't make bad games, and they stick to a formula that a lot of people apparently enjoy.

As far as I'm concerned, there have been no decent story in CoD games since CoD4, so they should just kill off the single player if they're gonna put crap like that. But the multiplayer is fast-paced and never gets boring, so they should just update that infinitely with new maps and weapons and all the good stuff.

If you don't have any good ideas for a single-player campagin, don't even bother putting one in the next game.

As far as Activision is concerned, yeah you should probably nuke that thing.

I just want them to make better games in the series. Really haven't played much of any of em since CoD4, but I used to love this series.

Well if you'll excuse me, I'm one of those who actually enjoys the ride. COD provides a change of pace shooter when I want to get away from the super tactical, slower shooters for a while.

how can you kill something that is liked by miliions and millions of people?

but it's simple... don't make it as your problem... if you don't like a game (whether it's a Call of Duty game or another), just don't buy/play it. leave it out of your worries... leave it to those who want to buy/play the game.

you can kill the COD series by breaking all yourCOD games discs (which i'm sure you have) and stop thinking about COD and forget it , like that it will be dead for you and alive for anyone else that wants it

I ended up hating COD because black ops doesnt work for me. I get kicked out near the end of matches with an error that i've been signed out psn, even though I AM NOT. I cant wait for KZ3. Its amazing how last year I didnt want to buy MEDAL OF HONOR over Black ops, and now I've played MOH much longer because it actually works online

I've never been interested in it so I don't care. I guess the only bad thing is that other publishers see all the money it makes so instead of making interesting new games they make more derivative shooters. There's still plenty of games coming out that I'm very excited about though. I'm sure Activision will run COD into the ground just like they did with Guitar Hero.

When I play this game, people usualy whine about everything but they still keep playing it. Im also wondering how can this game with crappy networking be so popular? Why? Other games offer better online with less lag, use dedicated servers but people still pick CoD. Im not really sure why.

It's very doubtful that anything will stop the popularity of COD. It has become a huge success and as long as it maintains its massive online support, the idea of "killing" it is a pipe dream. So sorry to rain on your parade, and the parade of every other COD hater, but the series will stay strong and continue to dominate the market as long as they keep being released.

Just think...if MW2 didn't kill off the massive amounts of fans it has, do you honestly think anything will? I know from my perspective Black Ops will be my last COD game if they don't introduce dedicated servers like Bad Company. COD makes more money then any other shooter and we're stuck in the dark ages of connection based off the host...

I just recently had the epiphany that I no longer even like Call of Duty. Funny, because I was imagining ways to get CoD stopped just earlier.

We can dream, but it doesn't seem very likely. However, the glitchers and hackers that are (possibly) incoming could tear it apart, but I have a feeling that people'll just keep playing it. At least the game will be ruined. Most of the other exclusive franchises can hopefully stay off hackers' radar.

CoD is good in that it forces all the big mouthed kids with the attention span of a fly to flock to somewhere, would you guys rather them ruin the good games? Well if that ever happens I can always retreat to single player :D

No. All the people who I wouldn't want to play with online (see: annoying preteens and trash talkers) are too busy playing COD, which keeps the communities of the games I play pretty good. Think of it as the filter for PSN users. :P
