Alright, lets get this straight. As much as Capcom tries to differentiate between characters in Devil May Cry and Resident Evil, can we please admit that there is little to no difference between Leon and Chris Redford, and Dante and Nero!

They've tried to trick us, but does it really matter which one you are playing with if they both sound, play and look the same!

Sure there is a slight difference between back story, but come on! After playing the DMC 4 demo, Nero played exactly like Dante! I forgot it was a totally different character all together! Why Capcom Why!

And when RE 5 talked about how it was going to be awesome cause now Chris is going to be back, I was thinking, what the heck is the difference between him and Leon again? I get confused sometimes because it makes absolutely no difference which one is in the game because they are practically the same person.

All I want is for Capcom to either differentiate their characters better, or just flat out admitt that these characters are the exact same with a slightly different back story and different color hair....that is all

so much hate burns within you :)

i don't see them as the same person because of the background story they are given and the memory I associate with each gaming experience. If I where to think that way Snake and Big Boss would also be the same...with the added bonus they only change the color of their eyes.

So Capcom sucks at making characters, big whoop, this isn't an RPG game, not every single character needs their own story.

No it wasn't. It was using the same core team as a Resident Evil game, but it was never going to be a RE game.

First of all, its Chris Redfield

Second of all, Capcom has done it many times alrready, its kinda like a tradition to them, just look at Mega Man and Proto Man, Ken and Ryu, and the list goes on....well those are the only ones i thought of right now but im sure someone else can name others....

Exactly...

The characters are only the same because they want to stick to the main gameplay's concept.

If they made a 600 pound character with 7 machine guns attatched to each limb to replace Dante, then would the game still be Devil May Cry? No, because the concept of DMC is the fast paced stylish action.

Instead of Solid Snake they put a guy without stealth skill... would it still be MGS?

Characters are alike because they fit their own games

Actually, dj is right. Kobayashi has admitted that DMC was originally meant to be RE4.

Back on topic, I do think Nero and Dante are extremely similar, even in personalities, but it works within the context of the story Kobayashi has set. However, Leon and Chris don't look or act the same at all. Not even their hair is the same **** which is what you used to explain your theory. And in how they play? I can understand wanting Nero to be a little different, but in Leon and Chris' case, is a RE game, do you suddenly want Leon to stay the way he was in RE4 and Chris just to be a crazy machete wielding guy? They are trained officers, I would imagine their training is similar.

Edir: For some reason S-T-Y-L-E is censored...

I beg to differ: street fighter, resident evil, devil may cry, etc, etc...and yes they like to milk their franchises and have also produced crappy games, but still i don't agree.

Back on topic i used to prefer Chris over Leon, but due to the quality of res2 and 4 I prefer Leon now although he so enjoys delivering corny lines

Those corny lines are a RE4 thing though. He wasn't like that in 2. I sure hope Chris doesn't become the next cornynator:P
