Why would you erase a game then download it again?

Ever since this update for Super Puzzle Fighter II HD the other day my name is not completely showing up when playing online against someone. It comes up as "LINKLOC" with the "O" missing at the end. Nothing major, but quite annoying. I'm hoping redownloading it will remedy this. Is there a customer support service for something like this?
On the PSN store there is an option at the top called downloads. This lists all of your previous downloads and allows you to download them again. You can download them on up to 5 PS3s as many times are you require.
