Can you guys explain to me why these 2 games are considered one of the best?

Gran Turismo 5 - I tried GT4, felt like a regular racing game. Saw the trailer. Awesome graphics. That's it?

Twisted Metal - Yeah, I played Black and Head- On. But it just doesnt interest me in any way. Sure the characters are cool. But the combat is kinda boring and somehow annoying.

I'm not hating on these 2 but I just wanna know why they recieve sooo much hype.

Gran Turismo 5 doesn't interest me becasue I prefer racing games with an aggressive approach like Burnout, Motorstorm and Need for Speed Shift.

Twisted Metal just doesn't appeal to me

Well there 2 Playstation exclusives so thats hype #1. They have been out since foreever hype #2 and that Grand Turismo was out but in Japan and they didnt announce a release date till tuesday hype #3. Also there one of the longest Exclusives to ever exist hype #4. Not exicted about GT because im not a racing guy. But TM will attract me. =)

Well, for me, GT4 on the PS2 was pretty much the most addicting and deep driving games I have ever played (and I dont even like 99% of driving games). Combine that with the VERY impressive graphics we have been shown, I think it deserves the hype.

I guess a ton of people enjoyed the old Twisted Metal games. I never found them that exciting to be honest, but the trailer for TM3 did look pretty interesting.

GT4 had great physics and great graphics, an immense number of cars and tracks, and a career mode that kept opening up new things to the player for months. I played it for at least 6 months straight and was still very excited about the new stuff I was discovering. Of course, if you're not a fan of racing games, then it's obviously not going to appeal to you much.

Gran Turismo is the daddy of all console racers, and depending on how successful the full GT5 is possibly the daddy of all racing sims period ( including PC titles like Toca and GTR). I'm pretty sure it is also the #1 selling Playstation franchise ever. Every iteration has sold absurd numbers. 20 million+ on PS1, 25 million+ on PS2. Even GT5 prologue sold 5 million+ on PS3 and is the 2nd best selling PS3 title. Now there are more "decent" racing games as competition, maybe that takes away from the impact a little but it's still the most widely anticipated PS3 game. Back on PS1 Gran Turismo was unquestioned as the best out there and they pretty much kept that tradition with GT3 and GT4 on PS2. I have 100% faith that when GT5 comes out I will be blow away the same way I was with GT3 on PS2.

I haven't played Twisted Metal since the PS1 days. Never played any of the PS2 versions. The whole theme never really interested me. It is a big playstation franchise though, dating all the way back to the original Playstation 1 days. So finally getting one on PS3 is a pretty fair announcement. With how far online multiplayer has come for Playstation I might give it a chance. Demolition derby style deathmatch actually sounds pretty fun.

I love Twisted Metal because it's mindless fun and it was a big part of my childhood.

This. As far as racing goes, I'm only into kart racers, nothing beats their charm. However, I love mesome Gran Turismo.

There's really nothing to "explain" - people like what they like, and dislike what they dislike. Not every game is for everybody, so not everybody will be able to understand why people feel the way they do.

That's really all there is to say, IMO.
