Can you play old sport games with old rosters?

Even though I am a sports fan of MLB, NFL and NBA, I don't really purchase PS3 sport games. One of the biggest reasons why I don't buy sport games like baseball and basketball is because I feel that after a few months of playing, they become dated so quickly. You may as well put an expiration date on them. It feels weird playing with old rosters and kind of like a wasted my money on the game. I can see myself saying "Oh cmon. This guy isn't on the team anymore!".

Can you play old sport games with old rosters? I guess I could play FIFA13 or NHL13 because I don't know anything about the players rosters as I don't watch that.

Another question......... Is there a sport that you don't like playing, don't like watching but LOVING PLAYING THE VIDEO GAME VERSION? I don't know anything about golf, don't play it, don't watch it but I am having a blast with Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds. I put so many hours in it and taught me about golf. I have a huge backlog of great games and I keep on playing Hot Shots.

i'm a fan of NFL and FIFA , both in real life and as video games , and no I can't play with dated rosters lol , and that always holds me back when deciding whether to buy or not a sports game , hint : i always end up not buying lol.Even though i have madden 13 and fifa 12 , but my previous ones were FIFA 09 and madden 10.

About the second question , i don't know anything about basketball bar thr most basic rules and most famous players yet i really enjoy playing it on video game , love me some hot shots golf and never tried the EA game , tiger woods something isn't it?And i really like NHL on video game too!

I think I am going to purchase FIFA13 when it is on sale because I used to like soccer games on the ps2 and I don't know any of the players or teams so it can't get dated to me. I may even look at NHL because I enjoyed that game in the past even though I am not a NHL sports fan. I had madden and 2k football in the past and I was definitely more of a 2k football fan so that is why I have no interest in madden games. Out of all the major sports the football is done the worst.

But i feel you , not knowing anyone from nhl is what keeps me playing nhl 09 every now and then. :P

I buy Fifa each year, not only for the new additions to the game but also for the updates in team players, kits, numbers etc. I don't like playing old games for that reason and I also enjo each year loading up the first time to see the new changes to each team how they should be.
