official ones sound really well, at the time I bought mine i couldn't afford those, my cat destroyed the ones from the value pack
but just keep in mind that more expensive means better sound
Phillips makes an affordable set of buds, they're dark purple in color and called "Extended Bass" or "Bass Boost" earbuds. Nice warm sound and the different ear pieces that come with it ensure you'll find a good fit that stays sealed to outside noise. They'll run you $40 US in Best Buy or Target, say... if you want over-the-ear headphones, Phillips also makes a really good sounding pair of noise cancelling headphones but those will run you $60 or so in the same store locations.
Some things to remember when buying audio stuff:
Don't be fooled by any earbud that claims noise-cancelling ability and doesn't cost over $100, and even then be sceptical... noise-cancelling only works if you can create an artificial environment around your ear in which to reverse the phase of noise constants or transients coming in - big words meaning that they can't cut out a sound unless they can isolate your head better.
Cheap ($20) often means it'll break or the drivers will blow out quicker. That's why Apple gives their ear buds away, they're not worth a penny.
The two Phillips products above are the only things that I found to have a good sound, are comfortable for extended periods of time (and let's face it, that's important to a gamer), and earphones that didn't run into the hundred-dollar-plus range, and so logically the only thing I personally would recommend. The over-ear noise cancelling headphones are really good at nocking down outside noise, I was impressed. The only other phones I have heard to do as good a job came from Bose ad they were $200-$300 or something crazy like that.

Peas.
The Sennheiser CX300 are great for what they cost on amazon.shogoh
Just took a look... yeah, those would be a good bet, Sennheiser is a pro-audio supplier and I prefer their mics when I'm working... their current IEM (In-Ear Moitor) systems are getting great reviews, so for $57 US or so, these might be a good set of buds.
Nice call. Thanks!
