You know those wires that come with the PS2 and PS3.

The AV Output and Power Cord. Does the PS2 one work with the PS3?

My cousin accidently brought me his PS3 with the PS2 wires. They fit in perfectly like the PS3 wires but it doesn't seem to work.

Is it that I need an HD TV or something? Need Help.

I rented Ninja Gaiden Sigma but now I can't even play it.

The AV lead works, Sony hasn't changed it since the PS1. The power lead is different here in the UK, don't know about the rest of the world though. In the UK it's a standard kettle lead (PC power cord).

If the PS3 has been connected via a HDMI cable you will need to set it all up and then press the on button at the front until it beeps a couple of times to reset the video system.

All the AV connections are the same on the PS consoles (when holding the one from a PS2 and the one that came with the PS3 beside each other there is no difference at all). The problem your most likely having is the input needs to be changed and this is very easy to do. All you need to do is have everything connected and have the TV on and from standby (where the red light on the front just under the drive slot is on) then hold the power sensor button on the front of the system until you hear the second beep and at that time the PS3 will auto-select the correct input. When this happens there will be a screen pop-up that gives you about 30 seconds to accept the new configuration. This also works if the system is connected back to a HDTV to change the input back.

You "can" use them. But why would you want to? Even if you have an SD TV you should upgrade to the Component cables if you your TV has component inputs. The standard cables that come with the PS2 and PS3 are very poor. I upgraded my PS2 cables years ago and it really makes quite a difference. It's only $15 on Amazon for the official PS3 component cable. That cable is a huge upgrade for both PS2 and PS3. When you upgrade to HD, you can still use these PS3 component cables to hook up the PS2 at it's best connection possible, and then get another HDMI cable for your PS3. http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-Component-AV-Cable/dp/B000MIXFWA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1264182218&sr=8-1
