I'm glad Sony finally got in touch with reality and dropped the price of the PS3 to $499 US. But they are screwing over other countries including Canada. Based on the current exchange rate, the PS3 should only cost $522.72 CDN. I don't see why we should be paying a higher price than the US as it is completely unfair. Our dollar is stronger and Sony should not cheat us like this.
They are trying to match Shipping cost, but that shouldn't cose more then 50 bucks, thats really sucks. In Aussieland we are paying an extra 200 over the true 800 Doller price, we are paying 1000 GRR
If you can't afford it do not buy it. Quit complaining. Japan had a price drop before it even launched. I don't remember large amounts of complaints. I want a new BMW but it is not cheaper this year, and clearly they cost less in Germany so...... So.... I should shut up.
Your complaining about paying a $27 CAD / $25 US premium on PS3 ... factor in tax + shipping costs ... and currency fluctiation ...
ANd you will find that your only really paying $8 - $10 premium for PS3 ... not bad compared to the other consoles ... not bad compared PS3 in Australia which costs $1000 / $860 USD ...
It is fair to complain about talk of the 60gb being discontinued though ...
They dropped the price by $110 Canadian, equivalent to slightly more of a drop than the $100 US, but you can't dish out 25 more bucks to get a PS3? you've got to be kidding me, i bet you i can find 25 bucks just lieing around my house, under a couch or something, honestly ... would like some cheese to go with your wine?

I think its hilarious when others from various countries complain about the price. Price is relative to the region in which you live. The amazing thing about currency is that its value and availabilty vary from country to country.
It doesnt matter if the Loonie is worth more than the Dollar, most currencys in developed countries are worth more than the dollar. If you look at the price for most goods reletive to other countries the US is generally cheaper looking from the outside in. But those in the US do not necessarily have the available fund to afford more expensive goods. Its all reletive, rent, gas, groceries, movies, games, cars all have various prices according to the region in which they are sold how is the PS3 any different?
