I just bought a Samsung940MG for my PS3 with a DVI - HDMI input. I get my crystal clear 1080p video, but I can't seem to get Audio. Yes, I know DVI doesn't support audio and I've already tried seperating the audio stream. I'm lost right now, and any form of help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, you use the DVI for your video, and use the Multi AV leads for your audio. Go into your system settings and just set it so your audio is sent through the MULTI AV. Mine asked me what to do the first time i connect my HDMI to DVI cable. Then just plug the audio leads into your sound system / monitor audio input. I had to buy a double phone to 3.5mm audio jack converter to get the sound into my TV. Hope this helps Steve

I'd recommend dolby 5.1 surround sound, but that's going to run you about $200 for a low end setup. It's great though, and you don't ever need to rely on your TV for any sound whatsoever.

Hey steve, can you elaborate on what you had to buy? I'm really desperate right now as I've been at it literally the whole day. Also, welcome to the boards.

Curse the lack of the edit button My system already asked me to plug in my AV cables into the my monitor (which is a samsung940MG by the way), both component and composite -- both to no avail. I fiddled around with all the settings on the audio options of the PS3, but it still wouldn't give me audio. Frustrating.

go hdmi to dvi from ps3 to monitor for picture, then plug your composite cables,(the ones that came with the system) into your tv. go to sound settings and select those from the optionis. then the sound will come from you tv when it is on the right input and the picture will be on you monitor... I suggest getting a sound system.. especialy now that you have bluray

I've tried doing that already. Infact, I was sure I'd be able to do that without a hitch when I purchased my DVI/HDMI cable, but nothing happens when I plug in my composite cables into the audio slot while I have HDMI -- I've tried setting the audio stream to composite over 20 times already. It simply does not work. Unless of course, I'm missing something crucial or I'm doing something terrible wrong.
