I have downloaded/installed the latest update last night...But I've gone to the website and i've done it through the playstation when it finally let me after saying "server undergoing maintenance" for a while.

Anyways i've asked it to email me a new password/reset my password twice now and my account is setup on a hotmail.com account...anyways i'ts been over 10 hours since I did the initial one and I did it again about an hour ago I have yet to see an email.....GRRR!

Anyone else have this issue or what's going on?

Thank You!

Many people are going through the same thing. Sony is having trouble distributing the millions of emails so it may take a little longer to get yours and start gaming. :)

Yeah, the time frame really varies, I guess. I think I requested my email at about 10pm last night, and I didn't get it until 2:30am. Sucks you have to wait.

But patience is all that'll work, really. Shouldn't be too long.

(By the way, if you already got the update and changed your password once, you might just be experiencing the current server instability.)

Quick heads up: You can still use Netflix. Just press X on the sign in, then press O to back out. It's worked fine throughout the entire PSN outage. :p

I went on their website in the morning and they said I was going to recieve an email in the 'next 24 hours'.

However i just tried changing it over my PS3 and a it worked fine. Earlier it was giving me an error. So luckily I don't have to wait for that email anymore :)

You don't need it to send you an e-mail, all you need to do is log in to PSN (ON YOUR PS3) and it will automatically ask you to change your password.

Thats only if your using the PS3 your account was created with. If not you need to do the email process.

Are the change password requests via E-Mail due to how the old password may have been forgotten or am I missing something? I reset my password after logging on the PS3 with no issues.

Sony posted a message on their Blog saying that with everyone resetting their password at the same time, it's taking a while for all the emails to go out.

If you're still using the same PS3 that you set up your account with, you can change passwords without having to go through the e-mail thing. I think that's only for people who have gotten a different PS3 since they originally set up their account.

I just downloaded the firmware update, logged onto PSN using my old password and it immediately told me I needed to change it. A box popped up and I changed the password, then logged back in using the new one, and it's worked fine since then.

That wont work for me, i've been downloading the firmware for over 30 minutes now and still on 39% Meanwhile i've been reading and apparently you can only change the password if the console is the one where you created the account, and since for me that was the old fat 60GB that YYOD on me i wont be able to change it on my 320gb slim. So i'm guessing its gonna take me a couple of days to get back online -_-

That can't be right. I have a phat and a slim. I downloaded the update on the slim logged on and was prompted to change my password. The phat was the one I created the account on. I have yet to even use the phat again, but my password is changed so I am assuming I will log on and just enter the new password. .

UK residents didn't got e-mails. We just needed to change our password from our PS3. It didn't asked the old password. Then I recived an e-mail about me changing my password and if I didn't changed it I need to e-mail to Support...
